Coach Matthew Chestnut is co-founder and head coach of Alpha Crush Running Club and is a USATF official.  He has been involved with youth running since 2006, initially with a youth club affiliated with the Alpharetta YMCA.

Alpha Crush XC 2013 In 2008 Coach Chestnut became a USATF Level 1 coach and is currently co-founder and head coach of Alpha Crush Running Club (established in the 2011.)  "The primary mission of our club is to help youth distance runners prepare for high school, all while having fun and staying healthy."

Coach Chestnut was a tennis player in high school and college and became interested in running after being challenged by friends to attempt his first road race, a 15K in 1983.  Since then he has completed over 50 marathons/ultra-marathon events, twice finishing the North Face Endurance Challenge 50-mile trail race at Pine Mountain, Georgia.  Long distance trail running is his favorite venue and he still competes in numerous events annually.

In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Chestnut became a USATF official in March, 2010.  In March, 2013, he attended a USATF starter's clinic invested in the necessary equipment and has been a starter for numerous USATF, high school and NCAA track and cross country meets.

Coach Chestnut serves on the USATF GA Association Youth Cross Country Committee.  For the past 3+ years the committee has worked with Youth Chair Jacqui Collins to bring a series of low cost/professionally timed cross country developmental meets to our association youth clubs, with over 500 youth athletes at each event.

"There are a number of rewarding moments as a youth coach.  I see athletes grow not only athletically, but personally and academically, as well.  Distance running is challenging; I believe that helping youth athletes meet, and overcome those challenges, helps prepare them for life outside the oval."

Thanks Coach! You are an inspiration to us all!
