Thanks to everyone that reached out to us.  We have two corrections to this communication:

  • American Track League Meet starts at 7 p.m. tonight.
  • The USATF GA Open, Masters and Race Walk Championships run Saturday night through Sunday - May 31 - June 1, 2014.

American Track League Meet
Greater Atlanta Christian School
Friday, May 16, 2014 - 7 p.m.
Lolo Jones 2013
The American Track League Meet is a 5-meet series featuring big name athletes including Olympians such as Ashton Eaton, Reese Hoffa, and Lolo Jones. Third stop in the series is Atlanta scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2014, 4 p.m. at Greater Atlanta Christian School.

Featured on Friday night will be Lolo Jones, specializing in the 60m and 100m hurdles.  Admission is free.  MORE INFORMATION

 

Peachtree Junior Slated for this Weekend 
Piedmont Park, Atlanta, GA
May  17 2014 - 9 a.m. 
The Atlanta Track Club is in the final few days of preparation for their Peachtree Jr. event at Piedmont Park this weekend.  Executive Director Rich Kenah reported, "We expect around 3,000 kids and for 2014 we are excited to have added local USATF Olympic stars to the event.  Adam Nelson, Dwight Phillips, Chaunte Lowe and Terrence Trammell will teach kids how to throw, jump and hurdle.

USATF Club Membership Renewal Deadline - May 18 2014
The deadline for renewing clubs at the regular rate of $60 is fast approaching.  Renew your Individual Membership and then renew your Club by 11:59 pm on May 18, 2014 to avoid the $100.00 Late Fee.  As of 12:00 am on May 19, 2014 each Club Renewal will be $160.00 for the 2014 Year.

New This Year for Youth Clubs!!!
BEFORE a Club will be approved, the club must meet the following requirements:
As noted in the Online Club Renewal Application  - "ALL Club Coaches and Volunteers Who Are in Direct Contact with Youth Athletes Must Have a 2014 USATF Membership AND a 2014 Cleared TC LogiQ Background Screening."

USATF GA President Inez Finch Attends NACAC Conference 

President Inez Finch was one of 10 women from USATF to be invited to a conference hosted by the NACAC Regional Development Centre in Miami, FL on May 10 - 11, 2014. The conference, held at the Grand Beach Hotel in Miami, addressed the topic of "Challenges Faced by Women in Sports". Jackie Joyner Kersey was the keynote speaker. Stephanie Hightower, USATF President, also attended.

 Upcoming USATF Georgia Associations Championship 

USATF GA T&F Chair Gwen Loud-Johnson, Masters Chair Jim Bitsko, LDR Chair Mike Spino, and Race Walk Chair Jim Norvill have joined forces to produce a great weekend of Association Championships at Westlake High School May 31 - June 1, 2014.

Activities kick off on Saturday night with Open, Masters, and Race Walk events on the track, and in the field events - Shot Put.  Sunday events start at 10:00 a.m. with the 100m hurdles.  Complete schedule at www/usatfga.org Calendar
