Someone You Should Know - New LDR Chair Dr. Mike Spino
Dr. Mike Spino will join USATF Georgia as the newly elected LDR Committee Chair. Dr. Spino was a driving force during the build-up to the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. He served as a coach, event host organizer for numerous national teams, and researched issues such as heat and humidity and jet lag during the Olympic periods. In 1984, Spino directed the Atlanta Pre-Olympic training camp for 100 athletes and coaches at Emory University, which proved to be a precursor to Atlanta's eventual successful Summer Olympic bid. Spino is the author of six books on the mental and physical aspects of the sport. He has coached over 100 All-American runners at Georgia Tech and Life University, where his teams won 12 national cross country and track championships. He was chosen NAIA National Coach of the Year three times. USATF Georgia welcomes Dr. Mike Spino to the USATF Board of Directors, and looks forward to great things from the LDR Committee.
