Someone You Should Know
Submitted by Ian Dube

Gloria Clark is a sprinter for Impact Athletics and a member of DecaturGloria Clarke_Ian 2013  High's state qualifying relay team. She is also an athlete, poet, author, and member of USATFGA - who lives with dyslexia everyday.

She is one of USATFGA's and America's accomplished poets with a book already to her credit (Thru The Eyes of 9/11).

As a 15 year, Gloria is an inspiration to teens, teachers, teammates, friends and people around the world. For her literary work, entitled "My Secrete Life", Gloria has been featured on Yale's Center for Dyslexia & Creativity.  In addition, she has recently opened the award-winning film screening of "The Big Picture", by HBO Cable Network, which I had the pleasure of attending the screening at the Carter Presidential Library late last year.

Gloria's other accomplishments include :
  • Winner of the Decatur  Book Festival's Teen Poetry Slam
  • Morehouse College's Next Generation American Poet competition ( 3rd Place Overall)
  • Recognized by The Atlanta Young Writers Institute (Student of The Month for Aug 2012)
Now the real accomplishment that I want to recognize is her philanthropic pursuits.  Proceeds from her book sales are going towards Project Common Bond which is a program to connect and encourage children and teens whose parents were victims of 9/11 as well as other terroristic acts around the world.
