Kendell Williams Named USATF GA Female Indoor Track Athlete of 2013

After a successful season last year filled with records, championships and lots of travel, Kendell Williams ended the season in Barcelona, Spain at the World Junior Championship.

She took about a month off, and began her Indoor Season training and competing in Nashville, TN; Johnson City, TN; Akron, OH; Lexington, KY; and Seattle, WA. All of this was between January and March.

In March, she competed at the New Balance Indoor Championship in New York City.   She returned as the 2-time defending champion in the Pentathlon. Even though she was looking for the "3-peat", this multi-athlete was not afraid to also take on the 60 meter hurdles, the long jump and the high jump as open events.  She had won the championship rings before in all of those events (except long jump).

By the time the weekend was over, she had broken the US Record in the Pentathlon, becoming the first girl ever to score over 4000 points in that event. She scored 4068! She also won silver medals in the other 3 events. She was awarded the long jump ring (as the other girl was not eligible), completing her collection.

Kendell was also named Female Athlete of the Meet, and her points alone won The Heat Track Club the overall National Championship for Girls.

Kendell confided that she wanted to end her high school indoor competition on a high note. She did that indeed!

USATF Georgia Association is very proud of Kendell's achievements!
