Dr. Michael Spino was a driving force during the build-up to the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. He served as a coach, was an event host organizer for numerous national teams, and researched issues such as heat and humidity and jet lag during the Olympic periods. In 1984, Spino directed the Atlanta Pre-Olympic training camp for 100 athletes and coaches at Emory University, which proved to be a precursor to Atlanta's eventual successful summer Olympic bid.
He is the author of six books on the mental and physical aspects of sport, coached over a hundred All-American runners at Georgia Tech and Life University, where his teams won 12 national cross country and track championships, and he was chosen NAIA national Coach of the Year three times.
Dr. Spino formulated his theories of sport and health at the famed Esalen Sports Center in California and is a fellow of OPUS NOVUM. Presently, he is a collaborator with Lille2 University in France developing master's degree consortiums and sport tourism research projects.
Coach Adam Ward

A 2001 graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science,

Ward is a USA Track and Field Level II certified coach in Endurance and Sprints/Hurdles/Relays. He is also a USATF Level I instructor. Ward earned his master's degree in Health & Physical Education from Augusta State in 2005.
Ward is a former president of the local running club, the Augusta Striders, and is an at-large member of the Augusta Sports Council Events and Planning Committee, he was involved in the design of the original course for the Augusta Chronicle Half-Marathon that was first staged in October, 2008.
A former Peach Belt Conference representative to the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) on the DII Executive Council, Ward is also an at-large member of the USTFCCCA Division II Awards Committee.
