Room Temperature and Sleep

Most of us have experienced a difficult night's sleep because of the weather or poorly controlled air conditioning--too hot or too cold.  But did you know that there is a specific range of temperature that is optimal for sleep?

Many sleep doctors will recommend that you keep your bedroom temperature between 68 and 72 degrees as sleep can be disrupted at temperatures lower than 65 or higher than 75 degrees.

Which temperature to choose within the ideal range is up to the individual and may take a bit of trial and error.  Other issues to consider are the temperature needs of a bed partner, bedding materials' different potentials for holding or venting heat, your clothing, etc.

For more information on ways to optimize your sleep environment, visit the National Sleep Foundation website at www.sleepfoundation.org, or give us a call to discuss your particular sleep environment issue!

ResMed AirFit™  P10
For Him and Her

ResMed's lightweight AirFit™ P10 nasal pillows mask delivers high-level performance, comfort and reliability, along with providing advanced air diffusion that is barely audible, significantly reducing disturbance for you and your bed partner.

It's 50% quieter and around 50% lighter than the popular Swift™ FX mask, and a recent clinical study found that patients received 40minutes more sleep per night using AirFit™ P10 compared to Swift™ FX.

You can fit the QuickFit™ elastic headgear in less than 30 seconds, and with just three parts, it's simple to use and maintain. In short, AirFit™ P10 is the quieter fit for sleep

Drowsy Driving as Serious as Drunk Driving

Unfortunately, many people have not considered the fact that drowsy driving can be as serious a problem as driving drunk or under the influence of other drugs.  AAA traffic safety researchers have estimated that drowsy driving is responsible for 13.1% of car crashes resulting in hospitalizations and 16.5% of fatal car crashes!

The scary part is that a very tired person can unknowingly take short naps called "micro sleeps" that may be only a few seconds.  However, serious accidents have occurred within those few seconds.

For more information about the research and for signs to watch out for that point to a problem with drowsiness, click here.  From this link you will also be able to access important information from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

We are here to help with any problems you may be having with your PAP therapy!  We also love to hear from you when you have awesome ideas that make therapy easier and better.  Feel free to call or email us with your questions and suggestions!

Sleep well!
