Kinsmen Day is Sunday, September 28th:  
The Children's Discovery Museum is open to the public at no charge from noon until 4:00 pm, courtesy of the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon. We look forward to seeing you!

**We will be hosting a Culture Days event this day as well - see below fore more information.

The Children's Discovery Museum is very excited this year to be participating in Culture Days - and hosting a FREE visual arts program for kids on September 28th, 2014.

Come visit us on Sunday, September 28th from 11:00am to 4:00pm to participate in FREE visual arts programming for kids!

Young at Art - Visiting Artist Sessions 



September was a blast! Join us in October and November for even more fun and exciting, hands-on art programming for children aged 5-10!

Registration:
$3.75 per child/session*
(includes admission to the museum) 
FREE for annual pass holders**

*No admission for adults to attend the Art program but regular admission charges apply to entrance to the museum.

Welcome Dave and Jaki 


The Children's Discovery Museum would like to extend a warm welcome and introduce our new Board President, Dave Hunchak and our first Executive Director, Jaki French.

Dave Hunchak - President
Dave is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and is working as a Professional Engineer at SNC-Lavalin. He is currently Systems Manager, working to develop local and global potash mining projects. Previously, he owned his own companies (Swift Fox Consulting, Pelican Forge Software Corporation) and worked in management and technical roles with Intergraph Corporation, Atomic Energy of Canada and Superior Cabinets. Dave brings extensive experience in business management, marketing, operational excellence, project controls, information technology, and risk and quality management. Dave has also been a professional musician, farmer, ballroom dancing instructor, and property manager and has served on several other community boards including the Saskatchewan Capital Network, Saskatoon Usadians Executive Association, and the American Society for Quality. With his wife and two kids, Dave has visited many children's museums around the world, always enjoying the creative spark and lasting memories that these facilities build in families. Dave is excited to help create a new world-class children's museum here at home in Saskatchewan.

Jaki French - Executive Director
Jaki's formal education is in Fine Arts, she holds a BA from the University of Saskatchewan with prior education in Visual Communications from Medicine Hat College. She has considerable experience in the cultural and community sectors in Saskatchewan. Prior to joining the CDM, Jaki was the Executive Director of the Ness Creek Cultural and Recreational Society. Her leadership and administrative skills are coupled with over 20 years experience facilitating child-initiated learning as a home-based educator. Encouraging a lifelong love of learning is something Jaki is passionate about! She is a mother of four and has volunteered with several child-focused, community groups in Saskatoon, including the Young Actor's Club and Shakespeare's Shadows. A firm believer in the power of play, Jaki is over-the-moon to be helping create a top-tier, child-centred destination in our province where EVERYONE will come together to PLAY!
