If every picture has a story, then to be sure, every designer creation has a hidden tale. What
inspires the men and
women behind each dress, shoe or handbag we choose is a mysterious blend of
genius and whimsy, life circumstances and
illusions.
For
Azzedine Alaia, the
"King of Cling," who began his life on a wheat farm in Tunisia, his visions were inspired by the pages of
Vogue, (given to him by his mother's fashionable friend) and his twin sister. An early entry into the world of
sculpture helped him perfect his sense of the human form and create
stunning silhouettes.

Uncompromising in his own aesthetic,
Alaia continues to have a following that began with Greta Garbo and includes Victoria Beckham and
Stephanie Seymour.
