INTERNATIONAL NIGHT

Please join us on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 6:30 to 8:00 for an International Festival! Help the PTA celebrate the diversity within our school. There will be fun, food and friends at this fantastic event! As this is a school wide party, we need A LOT of parent volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help provide tastings of favorite dishes from their culture of origin, create heritage posters, or provide entertainment (in the form of international music, dance or games).
Simply complete and return the International Volunteer Request Form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1xGrevOwKt-V3Hl9rP0YoH6oAoixcHk68Xts_5WdYKxE/viewform by January 13th. Even if you are unable to volunteer, please return the form with your country of origin. If you have any questions, please contact mariehess@gmail.com.

PTA MEETING

There will be a PTA Board meeting on Thursday, January
16th at 5:30pm in the Library. There will also be a brief PTA General Membership meeting on Thursday, January 16th at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. At this meeting, the PTA will be presenting information regarding the Spring Teacher Grant winner(s) as well as information on upcoming events at our school! The PTA's International Festival will begin immediately following the close of the General Membership meeting - we hope to see you there!

SUPER TEACHER AWARDS

The Virginia PTA is proud to partner with the Virginia Lottery and The Supply Room Companies for the 7th annual Super Teacher Awards. Nominations will be accepted from anyone 18 and older through Friday, February 14. We know Pinchbeck has amazing educators who go the extra mile each and every day. Please tell the Virginia PTA all about them! Eight teachers from across the state will win $2,000 cash from the Virginia Lottery and a $2,000 classroom supply credit from The Supply Room Companies. This year, one lucky Virginia Lottery Super Teacher will also win a vacation valued at $5,000. Check out www.vasuperteacher.com for all the details.

Please join our Pinchbeck family for our January Spirit night. This is a special spirit night because you can go all day long! Meet your friends for lunch or take your family to dinner. 13th ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR

The science fair will be in the gymnasium on Friday, January 31st. Science fair tours and demonstrations will take place during school hours. All students will be allowed to attend the science fair activities regardless of whether or not they have submitted a project.
(Please note that participation in the science Fair is mandatory for all 4th grade students.)

PINCHBECK'S GOT TALENT - 2014!

Happy New Year! It's time to SIGN UP for PINCHBECK'S GOT TALENT - 2014!
"Pinchbeck's Got Talent 2014" will be taking place in the spacious Godwin High School auditorium on Friday, March 7th at 7pm.
Simply click here to complete the registration and permission form. Our stage time is restricted, thus we will be limiting the acts this year to the first thirty-five (35) acts who sign up. Our electronic sign up will close automatically, once this limit is reached.
Auditions will take place the week of February 3rd. Students performing an act for this year's show should be ready for auditions in Pinchbeck's cafeteria immediately after school. Your child's specific audition date & time will be emailed to you. Keep in mind the necessity for acts that showcase appropriate elementary-age songs, dances and costumes. Because this is a talent show, students WILL NOT be permitted to lip-sync, however, Karaoke-style accompaniment is allowed. Other types of acts may include magic, poetry reading, playing an instrument, dance, gymnastics, etc. Each act can be a maximum of 2 minutes. Students will be permitted to participate in only ONE act this year with no exceptions.
The PTA reserves the right to refuse submissions that do not meet the guidelines outlined above.
There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal for all Talent Show participants on Tuesday, March 4th. Students participating in the Talent Show will be required to stay after school and must provide their own transportation home. It is necessary to review costumes, label props or music, and ensure the children have a clear understanding of the order of acts and how to handle the microphones.

SCA SELLING SMENCILS FOR VALENTINES

The SCA will be selling Valentine SMENCILS! Buy SMALENTINES for your Valentines.
SMALENTINES will cost $1.00; you can buy them from
January 28 until February 5 between 7:20 and 7:40, or until we run out. Come by room E20 to purchase one SMALENTINE or enough for your entire class! Don't forget you can order for your own child! Be sure to get your SMALENTINES early!
If you would prefer, you may use the attached form to order your SMALENTINES.
Order forms will only be excepted during the stated time and must have a full payment at the time it is turned in to Ms. Gonzalez in Room E20.Classroom teachers will NOT be collecting the order forms or money.
The SCA will deliver the SMALENTINES to the classrooms before February 14, so surprise your Valentine with a SMALENTINE!
