RAYS REACHING OUT

Coats For Kids Collection

December 2nd - December 6th

We will be collecting gently used coats of all types and sizes. Please bring your coat and help a needy child or adult this Winter season. All we ask is that you ensure the coat is ready to wear and the pockets are empty. Place your coats in the Rays Reaching Out bin in the entry way to the cafeteria. Puritan Cleaners will do the rest by cleaning the coats and transporting them to The Salvation Army for distribution. Thanks so much for your help.

LIBRARY NEWS

BOOK BOWL TEAM

Congratulations to these Fifth Grade students who will be on the Book Bowl Team this year: Sarah Cobb, Ian Douglas, Alice Geiger, Laura Hess, Jonathan Hundley, Riley Jefferson, Grace Killius, Charlie Taylor, and Ella Williams. To qualify for the team, the students read books from a list of thirty titles chosen by librarians. All Fifth Graders received the list in May. Students who passed the written test on October 1 were chosen to represent Pinchbeck in the Book Bowl. The team practices several days a week in the Library. They discuss the books, learn the rules of the game and develop a team spirit. The Book Bowl will be held this year on December 4 at Deep Run Recreation Center. Teams from 32 schools will play in the tournament. Good luck, team!

How we did the contest:
All of the students were given one minute to practice. After the practice period, on the word "go", all of the students began to hula hoop. If a student's hoop touched the floor, the student had to sit down inside the circle of the hoop until we had a winner. All students who were still hula-hooping after 90 seconds were declared the  winners.
