STEAM DAY - WE NEED YOU!
Pinchbeck's first Fall STEAM Day is coming!  STEAM is science, technology, engineering, art and math.  It is a way for students to engage in cross-curriculuar, hands on learning.   In order for each grade level to have  a successful project, we need volunteers and supplies.  You should have already received a flyer from your child's teacher.  If you can volunteer in the classroom, please let your child's teacher know. If you can send in any of the following, we would greatly appreciate it.  Most of these are items around your house that usually get thrown away.

Kindergarten - egg cartons, cardboard boxes (food item boxes), toilet & paper towel rolls, yarn, pipe cleaners, felt
First Grade - shoeboxes (enough for every student), toilet paper and paper towel rolls, and wrapping paper
Second Grade - straw/hay, popsicle sticks, string, sugar cubes, cardboard, Elmer's liquid glue, Lincoln logs, hairdryer (to be returned)
Third Grade - drinking straws, plastic bottles, string, aluminum foil, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, card stock, tissue paper
Fourth Grade - paper bags, newspaper, pipe cleaners, clay, craft sticks,  raffia, rope/string/yarn, cardboard pieces
butcher block paper, cardboard boxes (food item boxes)
Fifth Grade - cheap clear plastic containers, colored sand, clay, string
CANNED FOOD COLLECTION FOR CHRISTMAS MOTHER
The Pinchbeck Rays will be collecting canned goods for the Henrico Christmas Mother from November 18 thru November 26.  Dig deep into your pantry and send in those canned foods, all to support Henrico families during the holiday season.  Some food items that are particularly needed: peanut butter, canned meats, vegetables, fruits, and any item that does not require refrigeration.

We will also be collecting gently used books for the Henrico Christmas Mother. Last year, each family was able to receive 2 new books and 3 gently used books.  So, as you refresh your bookshelves with the new additions you purchased at the Book Fair, please send in those gently used books. These should also be placed in the boxes along with the canned goods.

Place your items in the cafeteria entrance.  Thank you for your support!
THE TURKEY TROT
The Turkey Trot is Tuesday November 26 from 12:15-1:45.  We need volunteers to send in donuts and cider as well as volunteers to hand them out to students as they complete their run.  Please click on the link to volunteer.  www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0849A9A82EA13-turkey Thanks.

LOST & FOUND
As the weather gets colder, our lost and found is getting fuller.  Please encourage your child to look through the lost and found for missing items.  It is also helpful to write your child's name on their tags.  When we find items with names, we are able to return them to their rightful owner.  In December, items still left in the lost and found will be donated to Goodwill.

How we did the contest:
All of the students were given one minute to practice. After the practice period, on the word "go", all of the students began to hula hoop. If a student's hoop touched the floor, the student had to sit down inside the circle of the hoop until we had a winner. All students who were still hula-hooping after 90 seconds were declared the winners.
