RAYS REACHING OUT

 Rays Reaching Out To Support Our Service Men and Women & Children in War Torn Areas

November 8th-15th

 We will be collecting black or brown crew socks, hard candy, commercially sealed lip balm, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and cards and notes of appreciation for our service men and women. We will also be collecting gently used Beanie Babies, Webkinz or other Small Plush Toys (6 inches or smaller)for the troops to give to children in war-torn areas. We will have collection boxes in the cafeteria entryway. All donated items will be given to Operation Gratitude http://www.operationgratitude.com/.

Please support our troops.

SUNSHINE FUND - YOU DID IT!
Thank you Parents, Family Members, Teachers, Administration, and Matching Donors (Capital One and Bank of America). Thanks to your generosity, not only did we make this year's Sunshine Fund goal but we exceeded the goal by nearly $800.00! These donations will be used to fund PTA programs such as SCA, National PTA Reflections, Scholarships, Winter Dance and Field Day (just to name a few). If you have any questions about the Sunshine Fund you can contact me @ lisaggio@sbcgloabl.net

PINCHBECK LOVES MS. MODRAK
The R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Educational Leadership seek to recognize principals who go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment. Four principals, one from each metro-area school division (Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover and Richmond), will be selected to receive a $7,500 cash grant to the principal and an additional $7,500 for school projects chosen by the principal.

 

Nominees must be principals who:

 

Demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment

Inspire their students and are advocates for their school and their faculty. Foster cooperation between the school and the community. Maintain dialogue with students, parents, faculty, and staff.  

Nominations may be submitted from the school community and the public. 13th ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR
Pinchbeck PTA is pleased to announce its plans for the 13
th Annual Science Fair.  Friday, January 31stThe science fair will be in the gymnasium on.   Science fair tours and demonstrations will take place during school hours.  All students will be allowed to attend the science fair activities regardless of whether or not they have submitted a project. 

 

For information about doing a science project, click the following link: 2014 Science Fair Information Packet. This link also includes several project ideas and helpful websites.  Projects will not be judged.  All students participating in the fair will be given a ribbon by the PTA.  Digital certificates of science fair participation will be presented to students who register an email address.  If a student does not have an email address, contact Jennifer Krug for a printed version of the certificate.

 

Please register your student by Friday, January 10, 2013, in order to allow the PTA enough time to order tables and participation ribbons.  Click here to register:   2014 Science Fair Registration

The end of the is quickly approaching at Pinchbeck!  The grade level with the most BoxTops submitted by FRIDAY, November 15th will win an exclusive PLAYGROUND PARTY!  

 

Please follow these submission rules:

·         Trim along the dotted lines before submitting

·         Check the expiration dates (NO expired BoxTops

  accepted)

·         Send in a Ziploc bag (Do not staple, tape or clip)

·         Mark the number submitted,  child's name & teacher

          on the bag

·         Deliver to your child's classroom by November 15th

Here are the results of the SUCCESS RUN 7-MINUTE CHALLENGE:
5th grade:
Mrs. Ranson's class: 5.57 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Davis' class: 5.09 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Carey's class: 4.73 avg. laps per student.
Mr. Seccia's class: 4.71 avg. laps per student.
4th grade:
Mrs. Miller's class: 4.68 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Hardymon's class: 4.63 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Sederstrom's class: 4.45 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. King's class: 4.42 avg. laps per student.
3rd grade:
Mrs. Dubs class: 5.05 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Gonzalez' class: 4.66 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Damron's class: 4.55 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Ferguson's class: 4.54 avg. laps per student.
Mrs. Long's class: 4.40 avg. laps per student.

What is the SUCCESS RUN ? It is a grade-level challenge between classes to see which group can average the most laps per student during a 7-minute run. We counted how many laps each class achieved, and then divided by the number of students who participated to get the average laps per student. Congratulations to all who participated.
