BEAUTIFYING OUR SCHOOL!

We all enjoy the open grounds of Pinchbeck! Now that renovation is complete and the inside looks amazing, we would like to create more beautiful areas on the outside.
What does the SCA need from you?
Donations of plants! We are looking for perennial plants, such as ferns, particularly native varieties, hydrangeas, ornamental grasses, black-eyed susans, sedum, columbine, brunnera, carex, grasses, helleborus, oxalis, bulbs (daffodils), Rubus Emerald Carpet.
These plants can either come from your own yard or purchased. We are having 3 butterfly bushes donated by Carolynʼs Gardens and other items may be purchased from
the website, www.carolynsgardens.com.
We will collect the plants from September 30 through October 4. Place your plants in small containers or plastic bags.
Once we have the plants, we will also need volunteers to help with the planting. We will be planting on Saturday, October 5 from 9 to 12. If it is raining that day, we will plant on
October 12. Please use the following link to sign up http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044BADAA22A31-beautifying.
Thank you for all of your help! If you have any questions, please contact Ellen Gonzalez, (elgonzalez@henrico.k12.va.us.)

PINCHBECK PROMOTIONS - MARTINS A+

Sign up your Martin's bonus card by October 6th to help Pinchbeck earn rewards from Martin's. While you're doing your grocery shopping, you can help Pinchbeck earn a cash reward from Martin's to be used for books, computers, athletic equipment, etc. Last year we earned over $450 for our school with your support!
Click on this link, Martin's A+ Rewards and follow the instructions under "Customer Zone" to designate Pinchbeck. You will be asked to enter your bonus card number & select Pinchbeck. It takes about 30 seconds of your time --that's it! Then every time you buy groceries, Pinchbeck benefits. The program runs through March 2014.
You can also ask grandparents, friends and neighbors to designate Pinchbeck for Martin's A+ rewards.
If you have questions, refer to the FAQ page.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION BUILDS HEALTHY BODIES

Physical activity is critical to our children's health and well-being. Research shows that children who practice good health maintain higher attendance rates, are better able to learn, exhibit higher self-esteem, and have a lower risk of developing chronic diseases. The 4th & 5th graders have been doing fitness testing. The fitness tests are a set of fitness activities that assess aerobic capacity, muscle strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. The tests are: Push-ups, Curl-ups, Sit & Reach, Trunk Lift, and Pacer Shuttle Run. The students have been taught how to properly perform each exercise. I'm very proud of the students for learning these 'lifetime fitness' activities, and hope that they will continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout their lives. If you would like to contact me for any reason, my email address is: gbbrown@henrico.k12.va.us Greg Brown Physical Education
