PTA PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome back to school, Pinchbeck families!

 

The PTA is looking forward to a wonderful year, full of fun programs and events for our PES students and families.  We are excited to announce the return of our FALL CARNIVAL on Saturday, October 26th from 11am-3pm, as well as in-school programs for all grade levels, a Winter Dance, International Night, After School Enrichment, Field Day, and more.

 

Please be sure to complete all PTA forms that you received at Open House, including our SUNSHINE FUND/ MEMBERSHIP form, SPIRIT WEAR form, VOLUNTEER form, and STUDENT DIRECTORY form. 

 

If you have any questions regarding the PES PTA or how to become involved, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to seeing all of you soon!

SUNSHINE FUND 2013-2014
 Once again it's time to donate to Pinchbeck PTA's "Sunshine Fund." The "Sunshine Fund" was created several years ago in lieu of asking families to sell wrapping paper, candy or other items. Your donation to the Sunshine Fund is 100% tax-deductible and the main form of monetary support to Pinchbeck's PTA.
    100% of your donation will be put towards PTA daytime & evening programming for the students, classroom supplies, arts in education, teacher support, scholarships and other needed services for our school. Participation in the PTA's direct donation "Sunshine Fund" is completely voluntary and anyone is able to contribute (family, friends, neighbors, etc.). The suggested donation amount is $45.00 but any contribution is welcomed!  Also, if you are a Capital One Employee you can DOUBLE your Sunshine Fund donation to the Pinchbeck PTA! Capital One will match your Sunshine Fund donation dollar for dollar from $25 to $2,000 per employee. This is a great way to double your donation to Pinchbeck. To take advantage of this program, go to the "Matching Gift" section of Capital One's internal website. If you have problems or questions please contact Kylie Kutney, Capital One's Community Affairs Coordinator.
    Contribution to the Sunshine Fund  DOES NOT obligate you in any way to the PTA  (although we love our parent volunteers!). Please show your support for our school, your children, and the faculty & staff by donating to the Sunshine Fund today!     
    You can find a copy of the Sunshine Fund form in your Back to School binder or on the PTA website. Just send the completed form and a check (made payable to Pinchbeck PTA) back to school in an envelope marked Sunshine Fund. A copy of the form will be returned to you for tax purposes.

Pinchbeck Spirit Wear!  Check out our new designs for the Fall 2013 school year!  There are 3 fun designs to choose from.  We are accepting pre-orders through September 30th.  Please fill out the order form and return to your child's teacher.  Also, we will be at Back to School Night on September 26th  taking new orders and selling the remaining items in stock.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION BUILDS HEALTHY BODIES
Welcome Back everyone! My name is Greg Brown, and I'm very excited to be starting my 11th year as the Physical Education Teacher at Pinchbeck Elementary School. Physical fitness and health is very important to me. I enjoy providing the students with lots of different ways to get exercise and valuable health skills. COUNSELOR'S CORNER (Monthly Newsletter and Blog)
 

Calling all PARENT VOLUNTEERS! Helping out in your child's classroom is an AWESOME resource for our 

school, but MRS. MAYO could use your help too! I am looking for volunteers in the following capacities for the first half 

of the year: Capacity #1) I need 2 K-2 Parents and 2 3-5 Parents to serve as parent representatives on my School 

Counseling Advisory Board. The time commitment would be (1) 1-hour meeting afterschool 2 times per year (1) fall; (1) 

spring. Capacity #2) I need mentors for our Midday Meals with Mentors program. The time commitment would be a 

minimum of (1) 30- minute lunch time per week in the cafeteria per mentee. Please call or e-mail if interested! (804) 750-2670 or via e-mail at [email protected]

International Bacclaureate (I.B.) Middle Years Program (MYP) @ Moody Middle School

Applications for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) at Moody Middle School will be available September 18th- November 15th.  If you would like to request an application or would like more information about this program for the highly motivated learner and think it may be a good "fit for your child, please contact Mrs. Mayo at (804) 750-2670 or via e-mail at [email protected].  An interest meeting for students will be held in September during school hours and a "Middle School Readiness/ IB Application" parent workshop will be held on October 28th at 6:30pm in the library.  A flier and more information on this parent workshop will be sent home in weekly "take-home" folders.
