A free, online, radiant-cooling seminar
I got this sign-up link from ASHRAE. Uponor's Devin Abellon, P.E., is the instructor and he says, "This webinar will focus on the conceptual design phase of a commercial radiant cooling project and explore the design development from zoning, sizing and locating manifolds to loop layouts, sizing pumps, piping configurations and controls." Looks good!

Why didn't we think of this?
Subscriber, Robert O'Brien, sent me this link along with this note, "The geek crowd is eventually going to kill the old-line HVAC control makers." To which I have to agree. What do you think?

How to make great clothing
My friend, Ray Frechette, is a Product Specialist for L.L. Bean and a subscriber to this newsletter. Ray sent me this quick video about how L.L. Bean designs their clothing by using a very unusual mannequin. I know L.L. Bean makes great clothing that works in ridiculous weather but I never knew how. I do now. Thanks, Ray!

I love these old ads
Thanks to Smitty in Denver for sharing these old ads from the first issue of HPAC Engineering magazine 85 years ago. They sure had a way with words in those days, didn't they? Oh, and don't forget to get your asbestos.

MIT vs the Desert
Who do you think is going to win? Take a look at what the brains at Cambridge are up to now. I'm seriously not worthy.

Russian gas
Subscriber, Noel Kelly, who knows a lot about a lot of things, shared this fine analysis from Bloomberg with me. It's all about the current situation with Russian gas and Europe. Think long-term as you read this one. I sure am glad we're not depending on them.

Nothing to do with heating
But certainly enough to boggle the mind. Thanks to Erin for sharing this story about what the Chinese may be planning next. How's that for a big project?
