How Honeywell got my attention
honeywell control center Check out this new control system from Honeywell. They've introduced it in the U.K., where there are plenty of combi boilers and just about every radiator has a thermostatic radiator valve, which makes it the perfect place for this. And it's all wireless and connected to the Web. Gosh.

What to do? What to do?
solar PV Another good one from the bright minds at GreenBuildingAdvisor.com. Should you go for cheap PV or more insulation? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one. And thanks to subscriber, Ray Wockley, for the heads-up.
Another use for tiny houses
tiny house I like this story. It just makes me feel good. There's dignity to this. Thanks to Robert O'Brien for pointing it out to us.
A business exercise
tombstone My PhD son-in-law, Craig, sent me this article and told me he uses it in class. You may not have considered this, but your business, no matter its size, is a brand. If you had to write your brand's obituary, what would you say? And if that doesn't get you thinking I don't know what will.

Something new from Australia
hvac How about this energy-efficiency rating system for systems rather than just components. We both know that how stuff comes together makes a big difference in system performance (and promises made - or broken). Do you like their idea? Think it will work? Think it will spread to other parts of the world? Let me hear from you.
Nothing to do with heating
Roadside America So when our four daughters were small (and now when our grandkids are small), we'd go to this place, which shows what can happen when a person's hobby gets out of hand. Pretty amazing and old-timey, right? But then subscriber, Paul Kolb, showed me what the Germans are up to. I think the Germans just seriously kicked Roadside America's keister.
Speaking of kids
kids Got some? This also has nothing to do with heating but our eldest daughter, Kelly, has a blog that helps kids learn to love reading. Kelly is an amazing writer of children's books, and she's also helping a bunch of friends in the HVAC business who understand the power of good writing build their businesses right now. Here's how.
Hug your kids.
