Meet the Cozy
My first reaction to Marshall Cox was that he was reinventing the wheel because we have thermostatic radiator valves, and I told him so, but Marshall is ridiculously smart and I'm reaching an age where I realize that it's better for me to just shut up and listen more. So I did. And then I got it. Marshall asked me if I would advise the team on old steam systems and I couldn't resist (he's pretty irresistible).  Here's what it's all about. I think this product is going to be huge.

But they're so cute
kids Who doesn't love kids? Well, never mind. Who doesn't marvel at the stuff kids will do? There, that's better. And when it comes to heating systems, kids will sometimes do the most ridiculous things. That being the subject of my column this month in that classy magazine, Plumbing & Mechanical. Reminisce and enjoy.
Got a wood stove?
wood stove You're probably okay, but maybe not. It depends on where you live. And if you're thinking about buying one you may have less of a choice as to what you can buy. Here's the story. Love to hear your thoughts on this.
Green wood?
green home Well, they touted it as a green product but it's not working out so well in some places. Check out what's going on with TimberSIL, which was supposed to last 40 years on these jobs, but didn't make it to retirement. Better living through chemistry? Perhaps not.

A Calendar of Events
calendar In the past, I've mentioned that I basically have no life and way too much time on my hands, which leads me to search out stuff like this and marvel. The nice part is that the good folks at that other classy magazine, Supply House Times, pay me to do this. And isn't life grand?

Ray Buchanan I like this $300, pop-can solar heater. All stuff you find around the house put to good use. This guy would do well on Gilligan's Island.
People who live in glass buildings
glass building Thanks to Robert O'Brien for sharing this story about the dangers of living in a glass tower during a power failure. All great points, well made, but I suppose if you can afford to live in one of those crystal palaces you can always move to one of your other houses should the juice go off.

Hug your kids.
