Unstable power supply
That's the threat we face from all the wind turbines and electricity-producing solar fields going up all over the world, and that's why California just passed this law. Smart idea, especially when you take a look at what's going on in Europe right now.

MIT is at it again
And look at what they've come up with this time. Some days I wonder why I even bother getting out of bed. I'm not worthy!

Maine loves wood
Thanks (once again) to subscriber, Dale McLaughlin, for the heads-up on this news from his home state. There's more and more wood getting burned up north. And maybe all those pellets won't get burned locally. Check this out.

Waste not
What do you do when your 117-year-old subway system starts springing leaks to a point where it becomes chronic? Don't dispair; just use the leaking water to heat the place. That's what they'll be doing in Scotland. A bonny idea!

What goes unseen
Why, the mechanical systems most of the time. We both know that's true. Hey, who cares about that stuff? I mean, wouldn't you rather gaze upon granite countertops than mechanical rooms? The folks at GBA sure do a fine job telling that story. I hope those photos make you smile.

Sometimes we have to go to India
To find out what's going on in Seattle. This isn't a new idea but what makes this story particularly fun is that the data centers, from whence the heat is supposed to come, are not too crazy about the whole idea. Neither are the developers. Stay tuned.

Big-box solar
Now that IKEA has decided to sell solar PV to anyone in the U.K. who wants it (and perhaps here in the U.S. if the U.K. market works out), I had some questions about costs and this article did a nice job of laying out the numbers. Thought I'd share.

And that's not all
Check out this discovery that's going to make solar PV even more efficient and less expensive. Lego? Next thing you know, toy stores will be selling PV panels.
