My day as a potted plant
Some days are better than others. I came away from this experience with that lesson well learned, and a whole lot more. Ah, the joys of youth! (So glad those days are far behind me.)

A boost from solar
Subscriber, Paul Pollets, sent me this story from the Seattle Times. What they're doing is a bit different from what's going on in Denmark, but both make lots of sense to me. What do you think?

Heat Days?
This one is from subscriber, Ray Frechette, and it made me smile because it proves that no good deed goes unpunished. When I was in high school, I attended summer school every year to retake (again and again) Algebra and Spanish. My brain just doesn't work well with those topics. We had no air-conditioning in our school and we had no Heat Days. What we had was sweat.

Brits win!
Last week, I gave you a few links to U.K. news about how our British cousins were responding to their government's plea to use energy more efficiently. Some folks said they couldn't afford to do that (in spite of all the available schemes) and others said they were just not motivated (ho hum). But before you put a smug look on your American face, read this. Hey, when it comes to using energy, we rock!

Marketing at its funniest
I got such a kick out of this. Here's how it works: You're a contractor. You hire a marketing company to get your name out there. The marketing company then declares you The Best of The Best in your local area. Wow! The press, thinking this is an actual news event, picks it up and spreads the word. You can now put it on your trucks, website, and stationery. Which proves once again that if you can't make money in America, you're simply not paying attention.

Nothing to do with heating
Subscriber, Thomas Long, P.E., gave me a heads-up on this four-minute history of physics. I really like the way they present this. I learn more when I'm having fun. Except for Algebra and Spanish, that is. Those were never fun.

A labor of love
When Robert Oswald wrote to tell me his story, and what his family was up to, I just had to write it all down and share it with you. To me, this is what our industry is all about. These are very good guys to know. No one else does what they do. Seriously. Bookmark them.
