A grand punch in the mouth
boxing gloves That being the title of my July column in Plumbing & Mechanical magazine. Remember what life was life before the Great Recession? If you're in this business you really should spend some time thinking about those days because the times they are a-changin'. I hope you enjoy the story.

My kind of town
Chicago Chicago is! If and when you should be shopping for a house in that fine city you can see now what it costs to run the joint. Here's the story. And I'd love to hear what you think of this idea. Like it or hate it? I like it.
In a similar way
energy label The European Union is changing (and radically so) their labeling method for rating the energy efficiency of products. They're doing this just as folks have gotten used to the colored-bars method. Ah, government! But it sounds like the new way will help consumers make more-knowledgeable choices and that's good. Right? Like it or hate it?
Shower with a friend?
shower Just a suggestion but it seems to be in line with this recent study from the U.K. There's also that business in there about not filling the kettle to the top whilst preparing the tea. Wait 'til you see what that costs the country. Yikes!
Flexible glass
flexible glass Corning has come up with a new type of glass that could make solar PV more affordable. That's a nice breakthrough (no pun intended) and it comes to us by way of the company that brought us Gorilla glass (and quite by accident). Thanks as always to Robert O'Brien for sharing.
How do you define green?
lightbulb I mean when you're selling "green" products (and isn't just about everything green these days?). Do you talk about saving money or do you talk about the planet? Do you consider the customer's politics before you open your mouth. You should. Here's a column I wrote for Supply House Times this month that may get you thinking.

Animal inspiration!

termite mounds Want to regulate your temperature? Start evolving like the animals and insects do. Here's the story, with continuing thanks to subscriber, Robert O'Brien, whose interests range widely. He always makes me smile.
Hug your kids.
