If you come across a sale, call us or drop us an email to let us know about it. Or, if you can, pick up an item or two to donate - we're always grateful for school supplies. |

Volunteer Update

We'll need all hands on deck for the next couple of weeks as we shop and pack for the Back-to-School Gift Event. If you can donate some of your time, we could use your help. Regular volunteer hours are Tuesday's and Thursday's from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We hope to see you soon.

Mr. John N. Smith was a loyal supporter of My Joyful Heart; he passed away July 23. His family requested donations to My Joyful Heart in lieu of flowers.
We offer our thanks to the family for this very thoughtful gesture and offer our prayers during this difficult time.

| It's Back-to-School Time! |  From the Founder and Executive Director
We've kicked off the Back-to-School Gift Event. Kids enrolled in the program will get backpacks filled with pencils, pens, crayons, markers, folders, spiral notebooks, and more. Your support of this Gift Event is important to the children - it helps them get off to a good start for the school year. In fact, school staff members have told us that the filled backpacks give the kids a boost of confidence because they start the year with supplies just like their peers have. Last year one of the children wrote this thank you note:
"I want to say thank you for all the school supplies that you gave me. I really appreciate everything that you have done for me. You have helped me be more prepared for school...I really want to say that you are an amazing person..."
I think you're an amazing person too! Because of you, local impoverished kids are "more prepared," and will have the tools they need to participate in class. Imagine how these innocent children might feel if everyone around them had crayons, colored pencils, or scissors to complete an art project, and they didn't. Imagine how it feels to have to ask a classmate to borrow a pen and piece of paper to take notes or do homework. It would be embarrassing to say the least, surely devastating to a child. So again, I think you are amazing and I thank you for helping these children in need!

| You're Invited |  It's Almost Time for the Caring For Kids Golf Classic
If you haven't reserved your spot for the Caring for Kids Golf Classic, there's still time. But hurry, the golf outing is just around the corner. Join dozens of other golfers and friends and supporters of My Joyful Heart for a fun-filled afternoon at the beautiful Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park.There will be several contest holes, including one for the chance to win a 2016 BMW 328i xDrive from Ziegler BMW of Orland Park.
This inaugural event is Monday, September 12. If you can't make it for golf you can still be part of the fun by registering for the delicious steak and chicken barbecue dinner. Helping Impoverished Kids for Many Years!
The Rotary Club of Chicago-O'Hare has been a cherished supporter of My Joyful Heart's program children for over ten years. Last month, they invited Diane to a meeting to give them an update on recent news from the charity. Rotary President, John Kearns, presented Diane with a check for sponsorship of two kids in the program. But, their support for the children did not stop there. At the end of the meeting, the Rotarians loaded Diane's car with donations from the school supply drive that was organized by member, Barb LaSpesa. This is Barb's 11th year organizing a back-to-school drive for the My Joyful Heart kids.
We are blessed to have the ongoing support from this group. We thank you and the children thank you!

If you haven't visited our website in a while, click here - our Charity Shop is open for business! You can purchase My Joyful Heart T-shirts, sweatshirts, and teddy bears for yourself or you can make purchases for the kids in the program.
Now is the perfect time to buy a filled backpack for a child in need and we'll do the shopping for you. Just click here and in a few easy steps you can give the gift of school supplies to kids ranging in age from six to 14 without having to leave the house!

Shop For Yourself or Shop For Kids
There are two simple ways to "give" to My Joyful Heart children. Shop Amazon Smile and use Manna Express Gift Cards to buy things you already purchase. Both programs are so easy to use and you help needy children when you participate.
When shopping on Amazon, log in to smile.amazon.com and choose "My Joyful Heart Nfp" as your charity to support. Then shop as you normally do, and the kids in our program will benefit from 0.5% of the price of all your eligible purchases.
You can also help kids by using Manna Express Gift Cards to make your regular purchases. Just click here to see the list of participating vendors. Choose the cards you want on this form and return it with your payment to My Joyful Heart. The discount amount listed is the percent of the sale that is donated to us. You spend face value, you get face value, and we get a percentage to buy basic necessities for the children. Orders are due by noon on Monday, August 29 and will be available for pick up on Thursday, September 1.
