March Madness at Jack's Fund!
This winter and early spring took us to several high school health fairs. It's always rewarding speaking directly to the teens and making that connection.
At Glenbard East and Glenbard West's Live Life Well Week, we discussed how important it is to make healthy choices. The students were asked to sign a pledge promising to stay out of tanning booths and to encourage their friends and family to be sun safe as well.
Surprisingly, (or perhaps not) we received over 990 signatures on the petition. Many expressed concern over the tanning behavior of a family member (mostly their moms). They are listening. We only hope the message echoes as prom season approaches.
March Madness continues as we travel to Batavia, educating hair stylists about melanoma and assisting with free skin screenings.
In April, you will find us at high schools in Downers Grove and St. Charles, as well as at the Health and Fitness Expo on Navy Pier and participating in a video for Healthy Lombard.
We are honored to accept an invitation to sit on the Wellness Committee for Glenbard District 87. As well as participate in the Survivorship Initiative at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
March also moves us closer to spring break ... please remember to pack sun block for the entire family. Yes, it can be a pain to apply (and reapply), but it's worth it - be a good role model for your children! They are watching.
As we move toward May (melanoma month), watch for announcements about free skin screenings at local health clubs.
As always ... thank you for your continued support.
