Our yummy $20 Farmer Pick box for this week's deliveries.
|
All went really well with orders this week, no shortages or replacements, yay! We managed to get the first planting of English Peas done just before the 24-hour soft Spring rain started. We were glad to see a great response to our Early Bird Coupon offer: ordering early helps us to get an idea of how many orders our farms need to plan for harvests. We might do these more often if it helps folks to order early!
Farmhouse Supper Club

Cutie Pie is one of the last twins born during the Christmas rush!

Our February Farmhouse Supper Club was really terrific! We have the next set of dates ready if you want to put in your Reservations now: Sunday March 12th, Sunday April 9th and Mothers Day Sunday May 14th.
Pickup Location Changes?
So here is the heads-up, folks! We need at least 10 orders per week just to cover the costs of delivery and several sites have been really lagging for some time. We don't give up easily but it just doesn't make sense for us to keep losing our very small profit margin making deliveries where there is not enough folks supporting the location. We saw some very impressive surges this week at All Saints (they had new Members signing up!) and Smyrna (we got quite a rallying cry with a bunch of emails from folks wanting to keep their location). We will make some changes to the delivery route at the end of the month based on the feedback and orders we get. It's not too late to let us know if you want to keep your Pickup Location! Spread the word if you want us to keep coming, tell your friends and neighbors to let us know, too. These are the sites in danger and the number of orders we had for them this week:
Care USA (1)
All Saints Episcopal Church (6)
Atlanta Community Food Bank (2)
Cox Enterprises (3)
Cooks Warehouse - East Cobb (2)
Smyrna - The Grateful Bread Company (3)
Online Market Survey We want your opinion! Click here to send us your short answers to just five quick questions about our Online Market. One change we have made is to resume sending the Monday Order Reminder email based on Survey responses so far. We'll close the survey at the end of the month. Thanks for your input!

Weekly Recipe: Mock Stuffed Cabbage
 |
| | This recipe is from a longtime Member Laurie Teaman. |
Each week we highlight
some of the ingredients from our boxes with one of our own Farmhouse Recipes. This is the way we cook here on the Farm with our limited kitchen time but love of Good Food. We hope to inspire you to try something new, even if it's just one All-Local Meal a week! The Full Recipe will be in the Wednesday Weekly Newsletter.
|
This week we are sharing a great recipe from one of our longtime Members, Laurie Teaman. It's an easier method that still gives the same great home-style taste of Stuffed Cabbage. We did add some grated Carrots to her recipe. Try it, we think you'll love it as much as we do!
Mock Stuffed Cabbage
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 cup uncooked rice
2 lbs. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 Tablespoon salt
Pepper to taste
1 large head of cabbage, shredded
(1) 46oz. can tomato juice
Saute onion in a small amount of oil. Boil rice about 3 minutes, and then rinse it. Mix meat, seasonings, rice and onion.
In a roasting pan layer half of the shredded cabbage. Put meat mixture on top of the cabbage. Layer remaining cabbage over the meat.
Pour tomato juice over the mock stuffed cabbage, and bake the main dish at 350 degrees for 1 ½ hours. Leftovers can be frozen for later meals.
