Our $20 Farmer Pick box this week
|
Isn't it March that's supposed to be so schizophrenic? What a weird mix of weather the last couple of weeks has been! It might be one more week before we can get into the main field for plowing, we really had a lot of rain again last night.
Our February Farmhouse Supper Club was really terrific this past Sunday! We have the next set of dates ready if you want to put in your Reservations now: Sunday March 12th, Sunday April 9th and Mothers Day Sunday May 14th.

We always have such a great mix of folks at our Supper Clubs!

Pickup Location Changes?
So here is the heads-up, folks! These Pickup Locations have not had enough orders for some time to keep them going. We need at least 10 orders per week to cover the costs of delivery. If you want us to keep coming we need to hear from you! Email us to let us know, spread the word to friends and family and order to show us you want to keep your site. Some folks have reported putting a notice in community or church bulletins, school newsletters and spreading the word to co-workers. Post a review of us on Facebook or send out a Facebook link to your Friends. We'll be making some changes to the delivery route at the end of the month so let us know if you want to keep your Pickup Location! These are the sites in danger and the number of orders we had for them this week:
Care USA (3)
All Saints Episcopal Church (3)
Atlanta Community Food Bank (4)
Cox Enterprises (3)
Cooks Warehouse - East Cobb (4)
Smyrna - The Grateful Bread Company (2)
Online Market Survey
We want your opinion! Click here to send us your short answers to just five quick questions about our Online Market. One change we have made is to resume sending the Monday Order Reminder email based on Survey responses so far. We'll close the survey at the end of the month. Thanks!

Weekly Recipe: Citrus Yogurt Trifle
 |
| | A surprisingly light and delicious dessert! |
Each week we highlight
some of the ingredients from our boxes with one of our own Farmhouse Recipes. This is the way we cook here on the Farm with our limited kitchen time but love of Good Food. We hope to inspire you to try something new, even if it's just one All-Local Meal a week! The Full Recipe will be in the Weekly Newsletter on Wednesday.
It was this time last year when our favorite food writer from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Conne Ward-Cameron featured our Farmhouse Supper Club with a beautiful color photo story. This was the dessert from our seasonal menu, it celebrates the Florida Organic Citrus and Atlanta Fresh Yogurt for a refreshing and beautiful dessert or brunch option. The Butter Cookies are wonderful on their own, too!
Citrus Yogurt Trifle
Ingredients:
Prepare Butter Cookies, cool well (or use other cookies of your choice)
4 Tangelos, juiced
2 Pink Grapefruit, juiced
2 Tangelos, segmented and chopped
1 Pink Grapefruit, segmented and chopped
½ cup Honey
2 quarts Vanilla Greek Yogurt (Atlanta Fresh)
2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
1. Combine 2 cups Citrus Juice with Honey in a saucepan, whisk together well. Add Corn Starch and stir to combine. Cook
slowly over low heat, stirring until the mixture thickens. Remove the pan from heat, allow to cool just until the sauce is warm to the touch.
2. Assemble Trifle:
Crumble 8-12 cookies. Place a layer of Cookies in the bottom of individual glass serving dishes. Spoon a layer of Yogurt to cover cookies then spoon a layer of Citrus sauce and sprinkle some of the segmented fruit. Repeat another layer of all, topping with fruit. Chill for at least one hour before serving with a sprinkle of fresh cookie crumbles on top.
Butter Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup Butter (we use Wright Dairy or Banner Unsalted)
1 cup Cane Sugar
1 egg
2 - 2/3 cups All Purpose Unbleached Flour
½ teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
Cream the Butter and Sugar. Add the Egg, Vanilla and salt and beat to combine. Stir in the Flour until mixed well. Chill the dough for 1 hour. Spoon onto cookie sheets and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until browned at the edges.
