Wonderful Winter Orders
Our yummy $20 Farmer Pick box this week.
We know it's a bit alarming and definitely strange to have such an extended period of warm weather in January but we sure are enjoying it! February looks like it will be more like our average "Winter" weather and then hopefully it will be Spring for real. All went really well this week with our order items, we were a little short on Broccoli and Lettuce for some Farmer Picks so we substituted with Brussels Sprouts and Kale, hope that works for those who got those items!

Our last Mama Goat had her two kids this past Saturday at Moore Farms so we now have twenty-one Baby Goats! this little cutie was 12 hours old when we snapped her picture. Come see them at the Farmhouse Supper Club Sunday February 12th! Reservations must be made ahead of time so check out the details here. We have extended our Winter Investment Offer and two passes for the Supper Club are part of the special! Click here for more info, the offer expires Midnight Monday January 30th.
*You can order Supper Club Reservations, Annual Memberships or Investment Memberships and Gift Certificates even when the rest of the Online Market is closed for ordering.

Pickup Location Changes
We're sorry to announce that our terrific East Atlanta Village Pickup Location Hodge Podge Coffee has had to bow out of hosting our deliveries due to space considerations. Fortunately we have two great options very close by! Both Grant Park (Bennett's Market) and Candler Park (Radial Cafe) are wonderful alternatives and just a mile or two from Hodge Podge. We received word last week that one of our longest-running sites is closing in Februray: The Cook's Warehouse in Decatur has hosted our box pickups since they opened! An issue with the lease is necessitating the closure and a new location has not been determined. If any of our Members has suggestions for alternate Decatur hosts let us know and we'll keep everyone posted.

Remembering a Dear Friend
Our group of Farmer Friends suffered a sad loss over the holiday break: Jessi Norwood of Hot Damn! Jelly Company was killed in a single car accident Christmas Eve. A beautiful, kind, giving and loving person, Jessi was an amazing entrepreneur who developed her product line of specialty Jams, Jellies, Pickles and Preserves. She always listed "Love" as an ingredient in her jars. We worked closely with her as she often used our Farmer's produce and made custom products for our Online Market. Just 29 years old, she was not wearing a seat belt when she had her accident. Please, everyone, buckle up. We will miss her very, very much.

Weekly Recipes:
Farmhouse Veggie Dinner Plate
Our Stuffed Collards are great prepared with or without meat.
Each week we highlight
some of the
ingredients from our boxes with  one of our own Farmhouse Recipes. This is the way we cook here on the Farm with our limited kitchen time but love of Good Food. We hope to inspire you to try something new, even if it's just one All-Local Meal a week! The Full Recipes are in the Wednesday Weekly Newsletter.

Our Farmhouse Veggie Dinner Plate package this week includes the main ingredients for our Stuffed Collard Greens, Mashed White Sweet Potatoes and Winter Farmhouse Salad. A great alternative to our Farmer Pick boxes, this is the way we cook here on the farm: simple, fresh and delicious!

Stuffed Collard Greens
Our version has a creamy sauce instead of traditional tomatoes. This recipe serves at least four folks.
1. Wash, trim stem and cut Collard leaves into square or rectangles, one for each roll you want to make, we usually make two per person. Chop remaining Collard leaves finely for filling.
2. Wash Cabbage (or remove outer leaves) and chop 2 cups finely.
3. Prepare Rice, you want 2 cups (or use leftover Rice, Grits, Quinoa or other grain).
4. Prep other filling items (optional): grate 1/2 cup Cheese; grate 1-2 Carrots; chop 1/2 small Onion; thaw 1/2 pound Ground Beef, Pork or Sausage. These additions are yummy but not necessary for the dish.
5. Cook the Collard leaves in boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Remove with tongs and plunge in cold water to cool. Drain and stack on work surface, prepare filling.

Filling: Saute the chopped Collard and Cabbage in 2T Olive Oil, season with salt and pepper. Cook until greens are just wilted. Stir in the prepared rice and other optional ingredients.

Spread about 1/2 cup filling in the center of the Collard leaves, roll up and place in buttered or oiled baking dish. The filling amount will vary depending on the size of the leaves. Continue until dish is full, you can squeeze them in.

Cream Sauce: Make a roux in a saucepan with 4T butter and 4T flour. Stir in 1.5 - 2 cups milk, salt and pepper, nutmeg to season. Stir to combine and cook until thickened, pour over prepared Collard Rolls. We like to add other spices sometimes such as Curry, Cayenne or Cumin. Add your favorite seasonings!

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until browned and bubbly. Top with a bit of grated Cheese before serving.

Mashed White Sweet Potatoes
These are so delicate in flavor and texture they are really nice as a side dish for the Collard Rolls.
Wash, trim and chop 2 pounds of White Sweet Potatoes. Boil or steam until tender. Mash well or pulse in a food processor until the texture you like. If you must you can add some butter, cream and/or salt and pepper but we don't think they need them, they are great "naked"!

Winter Farmhouse Salad
Wash, trim and chop Lettuce. Lightly toast Pecans in a pan on the stovetop, they only need a minute or two (be very careful to use low heat so you don't burn them). Wash and slice Apples. Wash, trim and grate Daikon Radish. Assemble salads and drizzle with your favorite dressing or our Vinaigrette.

Easy Vinaigrette Dressing
Place in a jar with a lid: 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/2 cup Olive Oil, 2 Tablespoons Honey, salt and pepper to taste. Shake until blended well.
