| Our $20 Farmer Pick Box is a rainbow of color and flavor! |
What a terrific order week, we nearly sold out of everything! With a truly wonderful variety of Real Food on offer from our group of Farmer Friends it's so exciting to pack these lovely boxes for our Members. We just had one or two changes: we ended up with Swiss Chard for the $30 Farmer Picks in (instead of Kale) and we were short on Radishes so we sent Apples in their place for the $30 and $40 boxes (Custom Choice and Add-On French Breakfast Radishes were all good). Everything else was just gorgeous and spot-on, yay!
Holiday Delivery Schedule
So next week is the final delivery week of the year! Our regular Wednesday/Thursday schedule will be on track for the 21st and 22nd of December. With Christmas and New Year's holidays on either end of the last week of December we will not have any deliveries for Wednesday the 28th or Thursday the 29th. We'll be back with bells on for the first week of 2017!

Each week we highlight some of the ingredients from our boxes with one of our own Farmhouse Recipes. This is the way we cook here on the Farm with our limited kitchen time but love of Good Food. We hope to inspire you to try something new, even if it's just one All-Local Meal a week! The Full Recipe is in the Wednesday Weekly Newsletters.
This week we have a really tasty side dish you can prepare with three main ingredients from our $20 Farmer Pick box: Broccoli roasted with Green Onions and drizzled with an Asian-inspired Orange and Garlic Glaze, yum! Serve this on the side with a Moore Farms Pork Chop, Grateful Pastures Chicken Breast or toss with our locally made Tofu and enjoy with rice or noodles. This is a good recipe for kids to help with! Serves 2-4 as a side dish.
1. Wash, trim and chop 3/4 pounds of Broccoli into bite-sized pieces. Be sure to use the stems and leaves, too they are delicious. Wash, trim and cut the tops off of 3-4 Green Onions. You want to leave a good bit of the firm white onion part so they will be about 4" long. Cut the Onions into 1" long chunks. Chop the green tops much smaller and set them aside for garnish. 2. Toss the prepared Broccoli and Green Onions with just enough Olive Oil to coat them, season with salt and pepper. Place in a single layer on a lined baking sheet and roast in a 400-degree oven for 10 minutes. 3. While the Broccoli is on the oven make the glaze: If you have fresh Garlic, grate or chop 1-2 cloves (or more if you like!). Otherwise a good quality Granulated Garlic will do (check out Trader Joe's or Penzey's brands). Remove the zest from one washed Orange with a microplane or box grater, then juice two whole Oranges. in a saucepan combine the Garlic, Orange Zest and Orange Juice. Add 1 Tablespoon Sugar and a little salt and pepper. Stir while cooking over medium high heat for 5-10 minutes, the glaze will reduce a bit in the pan. (If you like a little heat you can add some Red Pepper Flakes, too.) 4. Take the Broccoli out of the oven and drizzle with 3/4 of the Citrus glaze, stir/toss to coat and put it back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes. Keep an eye on it, you don't want it to burn! 5. When Broccoli is roasted to your liking toss it with the last bit of Citrus Glaze and the chopped Green Onion tops before serving. ____________________________________
