| Our lovely $20 Farmer Pick box this week. |
We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful and delicious Thanksgiving holiday, the warm weather this year surely was appreciated. All went just fine for farmer harvests and deliveries though we were a little short on the Radishes so we replaced in some Farmer Pick orders with another item.
A couple of important reminders:
On the Organic Citrus - it should be kept in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy because it has not been treated with chemical fungicides as the conventions fruits are.
On ANY Order Pickup Problems - PLEASE remember to call us ASAP (preferably from the Pickup Location) on the phone number listed on our website and all of our email communications (256-282-7889). We do not sit in front of a computer and do not get text messages so ya'll need to call us for help whether it's finding your box, cooler items or a new Pickup site. If you don't call we can't help!
Here at Moore Farms we are on Baby Goat Watch again with the next batch due just any time so look for more Kid Pics soon on our Facebook page and in the emails.
Wowee-zowie Weather |
| | The red arrow is where we are, after the tornado warning was over. | After months of drought for most of our farms (some have been seriously threatened by the wildfires, too) we finally got two days of big fat drenching rains this week. It's still coming down pretty heavy here at the farm as I finish the Weekly Newsletter and moving on up and over into Atlanta. Thank you, everyone, for your rain dances: ya'll must have been rain slam dancing instead of nice gentle rain waltzes! We will not complain though, it looks like we'll end up with five or six inches by the time Mother Nature is done quenching our thirst.
Pickup Location Changes
We were sad to get word last week from The Mercantile in Candler Park that their retail growth meant they simply did not have space for our farm box deliveries anymore. We love the fine folks at The Mercantile and they have been wonderful hosts for us for many years. We are actively working on a new site near by and we expect to have an announcement after the holiday so don't worry if this has been your Pickup Location. Now Accepting Amex! We keep forgetting to shout out that yes, we now can process American Express cards on our Online Market.
Give the Gift of Good Food
Thinking about holiday gift giving? Our Gift Certificates are a great way to share our farmers' Good Food and we always have some folks who sign up for an Investment Membership. How about reservations for
our February Farmhouse Supper Club? Just in time for Valentines Day and no madding crowds, just chickens and goats to feed and pet then a delicious Farmhouse meal to enjoy.

Each week we highlight some of the ingredients from our boxes with one of our own Farmhouse Recipes. This is the way we cook here on the Farm with our limited kitchen time but love of Good Food. We hope to inspire you to try something new, even if it's just one All-Local Meal a week!
This produce in this week's Farmer Pick boxes scream this recipe to us: what do you get when you combine Kale, Green Onions, Radishes, Apples and Oranges? You're gonna love it and your immune system will, too.
Salad: Wash, trim and chop Kale, Radishes and Green Onions. Drizzle with just a bit of our Citrus Vinaigrette and refrigerate (this helps to "soften" the Kale and combines the flavors). Wash, trim and slice the Apples and cut the Oranges into chunks or segments. Just before serving toss the fruit together with the Kale Salad and a bit more Vinaigrette. Top with a grating of cheese, here we used Decimal Place Farm Feta we picked up at the farmer's market.
Citrus Vinaigrette: put ingredients in a jar and shake shake shake until it's all mixed up (this is a great job for the kids).
> Juice of one Orange > 2 Tablespoons Honey > 4 Tablespoons Apple Cider or Rice Wine Vinegar (or other light vinegar) > 1/2 cup Olive Oil > salt and pepper to taste ____________________________________
