Our First Week of June Orders!
| Our $20 Farmer Pick box this week, a lot of green and yellow going on! |
Orders went just great this week with all of the harvests save one happening right on target: one of our new growers jumped the gun a bit on his Green Bean forecast, for those of you who ordered them as Custom Choice Items we made an executive decision to replace them in your box with an order of Sugar Snap Peas since they are so nice and it's probably their last week. Hopefully everyone was happy with that swap!
We expect everyone enjoyed the lovely holiday weekend and we are happy to celebrate the first week of June with some much-needed scattered rains and thundershowers. It seems as if Mother Nature has flipped the Summer Switch on a tad early with the 2-week forecast hitting 90 most days, great for the Summer crops coming on but it will wrap up the last of the Spring harvests darn quickly. We'll have the last of the Sugar Snap Peas at market on Saturday as well as maybe the last week of Strawberries accompanied by the first picking of Peaches! Come see us at the Freedom Farmers' Market at The Carter Center OR at the always TOO much fun Atlanta Food & Wine Festival: we're in the Tasting Tents each day with yummy samples of our own farmer's Good Food (see details in the right hand sidebar).
Our Summer Investment Incentive has a super-duper Goodie Bag which includes Strawberry Orange Jam and Pecan Point Granola for (Basic level along with regular Goodies), we'll add Strawberries and Yogurt for Supporting Level investments and two Cheese selections for Sustaining level folks. Our first Summer Investors got Peaches included in their Thank You Goodie Bags this week! See details on our Investment Program below in the Ordering Options section.

Weekly Recipe: Chopped Veggie Salad
A great way to enjoy a mix of vegetables, the lovely colors, flavors and textures are highlighted with our own version of "Green Goddess" Salad Dressing. 1. Wash trim and chop a mix of veggies. This week we used Beets, Broccoli, Spring Onions, Kohlrabi, Squash and Cucumbers. 2. Steam the Beets, Kohlrabi and Squash, allow to cool (the Kohlrabi and Squash are great raw, too). 3. Layer the veggies in a pretty clear dish and drizzle with our version of "Green Goddess" Dressing. B lend together until smooth: 1/4 cup good Olive Oil, 1/2 cup Plain Yogurt, 1/4 cup Mayonnaise, 2-3 Tablespoons chopped fresh Herbs (dill, chervil, parsley, chives, tarragon, oregano, etc.), 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice, 1 Tablespoon Asian Fish Sauce, salt and pepper. Keep in a pint jar for up to 2 weeks if it lasts that long!_____________________________________________________________
Farmhouse Supper Club
Our monthly Supper Club meals are four-course menus we prepare right here on the farm with the ingredients we have from our group of farmers that week. Our June 11th date is now SOLD OUT but we'll announce our Fall dates soon!
We always have a Soup, a Salad, a Main Course (both Vegetarian and Meat options) and Dessert. The Kids Menu is smaller portions of the four courses and we can accommodate food allergies and preferences for most anyone. Be sure to look for the lovely article about our Supper Club in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution from January 21st! If you missed it here is the link to the online version.
