Our Great Orders This Week!
| Our tasty $20 Farmer Pick this week, the Purple Basil in the top left corner photographed a bit dark! |
So we had a couple of funny change-ups for our boxes this week: 4G Farms had a lot more Icebox Melons than they anticipated so we swapped them for the Apples in the $20 boxes. Also the Cilantro we expected arrived as Italian Parsley! Glad to have it so Farmer Pick orders got Parsley or Basil. All else went just as planned, yay!
Baby Goat Surprise!
| Baby Blue Eyes two kids look just like her! |
Lots of excitement here at Moore Farms on Monday and Tuesday as two of our Mama Goats had their kids early! Frida and Baby Blue Eyes have had kids already so likely their gestation was shorter (the other three girls are first-timers so should be a couple more weeks). The ladies both had twins, a boy and a girl each. SO cute!!!!

Weekly Recipe:
Tomato Basil Grilled Cheese
We love adding Tomato to our Grilled Cheese sandwiches and we have a few tips to keep your bread from getting too soggy with the juice! This is a pretty sophisticated sandwich and pairs well with a cup of soup or salad for lunch or light supper. We know you will love it, too!
For each sandwich you will need: two slices bread; 2-3 ounces cheese (we used Wright Dairy Asiago); 3-4 leaves Basil shredded; 1-2 Heirloom Tomato slices 1/4" thick; butter.
To prepare: Place Tomato slices on paper towel to dry off both sides. Toast the two slices of bread until just crispy but not too browned. Put the bread slices on baking sheet, top one with prepared cheese and the other with the Tomato slices. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 5-6 minutes or until cheese gets melty and Tomatoes look a little dry. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat, place the bread slices in the pan and brown. To serve top the cheese bread with the shredded Basil, put both slices of bread together and cut in half.
