| Our delectable $20 Farmer Pick this week! |
Another really delicious array of Summer produce this week from our farmers! Many of us have been fortunate to catch the pop-up scattered rain and storms while other farms have had virtually none. We're all doing some rain dances for the next few days as another series of weather fronts come through our region. This time of year we are all busy planting for late Summer and Fall crops!
New Farm Kittens Meet one of our
newest additions to Moore Farms: Miss Harriet and her brother Huey have arrived from our neighbor Jackie Carr's homestead. Their mama decided to have her litter of kittens in the henhouse right next to a chicken who was sitting on eggs! The two mamas took turns watching each others babies: the mama cat snuggled the kittens under her feathers and the baby chicks perched on top of mama cat while she nursed the kittens. So far the kittens have not bothered our baby chicks which is a real advantage for us all! Here Miss Harriet found an empty egg basket on the front porch to curl up in for an afternoon nap.
Weekly Recipe: Quick Tomato Sauce

This simple sauce is a favorite here on the Farm.

Transform our fresh Tomatoes, Garlic, Peppers and Onions into a tasty topping for bread, pasta, etc., or put it in the freezer for a fresh taste of Summer on a cold gray day! 1. Wash, trim and chop two pounds Roma or other Tomatoes (almost any kind is fine). 2. Wash, trim and chop 1 Bell Pepper. Finely chop 1 Onion and 2-3 cloves Garlic. 3. Wash, trim and chop fresh Herbs: we like Oregano and Basil for Tomato Sauce. 4. If making sauce with meat heat a skillet on medium high and brown 1/2 pound Ground Beef, Sausage or Pork with 2T Olive Oil. Add Onion, Peppers, Garlic and half of the Fresh Herbs. Cook together for 2-3 minutes, season with salt, pepper and hot pepper flakes if you like. 5. Add Tomatoes to skillet and stir to combine. Pour 1 cup Red Wine over all (or use broth or water). Stir and lower heat to medium low, simmer covered for 15-20 minutes. Check for seasoning and add remaining Fresh Herbs right before serving.

Moore Farms and Friends Farm to School Program
We often get requests from schools to host our pickups but with most educational calendars it's difficult for us to make it work. As an alternative we have Partnered with these Atlanta area schools: new and renewing Members let us know they were referred by their school and we give back $5 to the PTA, school garden or other designated program. Ask us about adding your school to the referral list!
