Moore Farms
Wonderful Orders This Week!
Our yummy $20 Farmer Pick box this week.
Another exciting weather week as we bounced back and forth between steamy hot and blissful rain relief. Here at Moore Farms we have been very fortunate, catching a lot of the scattered pop-up showers and storms in the last several weeks. Many of our Farm Friends report the same though a few seem to keep getting passed over. Doing rain dances for Riverview Farms and Ups & Downs Farm, hopefully they will catch some good rains very soon. OK all went really well for Farm Box orders, we ended up with some folks who got Peaches in place of Melons so hope you all are happy with that substitution!

Update on our Eggs
All of our Egg producers follow the new Non-GMO feed regimen.
So Moore Farms and our seven other Egg producers are seeing a steady upward trend in our hen's Egg production as they adjust to the Summer weather (that first long heat wave really made them unhappy!). We have kept our production estimates low to be on the safe side for a few weeks with a one-dozen-per-order limit for one more week. Thanks to everyone for being so sweet about this, we want to give everyone a chance to get some of our good Eggs. This week we lifted the limit, yay! ALSO we have finally been able to get all of our producers switched over to a locally-produced Non-GMO Soy-Free feed regimen! All of our farmer's hens are allowed to range naturally every day so they can scratch in the dirt for bugs and eat grass and weeds. The increased feed cost translates to a a higher price for our wonderful Eggs but we feel it is worth it to ensure the quality of our girls' delicious product.
Weekly Recipe:
Peach Blueberry Crumble

Peach and blueberry summer crumble in small dish
Such an easy summer dessert, just add sugar or honey and Pecan Point Honey Pecan Granola. The seasonal Blueberries are slowing down so if you want them this is the week to order! Serve this yummy dessert with vanilla ice cream and you will make a crowd happy in just a few minutes. Leftover Crumble? Not a problem, serve it up with Atlanta Fresh Vanilla Yogurt for breakfast or brunch. This makes a nice portion for 4 folks to enjoy.

Method:
1. Wash, trim and chop 3-4 Peaches (no need to peel).
2. Wash and dry 1 pint Blueberries.
3. Mix Fruits together in a bow, dust with 2T Honey or Sugar. We also mix in 2T Corn Starch to help the juices to set up.
4. Lightly butter a glass baking dish (a pie plate works fine) or use individual ramekins. Pour Fruit mixture into baking dish or divide between ramekins.
5. Top with Pecan Point Honey Pecan Granola and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
6. Allow to cool after taking out of the oven, serve with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Moore Farms and Friends Farm to School Program

We often get requests from schools to host our pickups but with most educational calendars it's difficult for us to make it work. As an alternative we have Partnered with these Atlanta area schools: new and renewing Members let us know they were referred by their school and we give back $5 to the PTA, school garden or other designated program. Ask us about adding your school to the referral list!
