Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week
Mmmm-mm! Summer in a box with our $20 Farmer Pick this week.
Whew, another terrific Steamy Summer week on the farm! We are looking forward to a little break on Thursday when the high temperature is predicted to be only 88 degrees, nice! After a heat index of 110 degrees Tuesday we will all be relieved. Everything just hunky-dory with the boxes, we hope everyone loves loves loves our Good Food this week!

Update on our Eggs
All of our Egg producers follow the new Non-GMO feed regimen.
So Moore Farms and our seven other Egg producers are seeing a steady upward trend in our hen's Egg production as they adjust to the Summer weather (that first long heat wave really made them unhappy!). We have kept our production estimates low to be on the safe side for a few weeks with a one-dozen-per-order limit  and next week we will be able to lift the ordering limit, yay! Thanks to everyone for being so sweet about this, we wanted to give everyone a chance to get some of our good Eggs. ALSO we have finally been able to get all of our producers switched over to a locally-produced Non-GMO Soy-Free feed regimen! All of our farmer's hens are allowed to range naturally every day so they can scratch in the dirt for bugs and eat grass and weeds. The increased feed cost translates to a a higher price for our wonderful Eggs but we feel it is worth it to ensure the quality of our girls' delicious product.

Weekly Recipe: Breakfast Parfait
Brunch Parfait 06.2011
We like to encourage families to involve kids in the kitchen as much as possible and this is a fun and delicious recipe for breakfast that kids can assemble on their own (with a little help chopping). Moore Farms and Friends has sponsored three of the Summer Kids Cooking Camps at The Cooks Warehouse this year providing many of the local farm ingredients used for the camp! It has been our honor to help out by judging the Iron Chef Competition for each class, the kids do such a great job with adapting recipes and creating their own take on the dishes they learn to prepare. We enjoy this yummy Breakfast Parfait here on the farm in the Summertime when it's too hot to cook!
1. Wash, trim and if necessary chop an assortment of Fruit: we use whatever we have in season such as Blueberries, Blackberries, Strawberries, Peaches, Nectarines, Melon or Apples.
2. Sprinkle Fruit with a little sugar or drizzle with Honey.
3. In a glass bowl or cup layer Atlanta Fresh Greek Yogurt (we like the Vanilla because it doesn't have too much sugar in it), Fruit and Pecan Point Pecan Honey Granola.
We have even prepared these the night before and refrigerated, the Pecan Point Granola does not get soggy, it stays nice and crunchy!

Moore Farms and Friends Farm to School Program
We often get requests from schools to host our pickups but with most educational calendars it's difficult for us to make it work. As an alternative we have Partnered with these Atlanta area schools: new and renewing Members let us know they were referred by their school and we give back $5 to the PTA, school garden or other designated program. Ask us about adding your school to the referral list!

Rattatouille Pasta
One of our all-time favorite Summer recipes, we had the main ingredients in our Veggie Dinner Package this week! If your eaters are picky try blending up the sauce, the flavors are fantastic and you'll likely win them over.

1. Wash trim an chop Vegetables: Eggplant; Tomatoes; Squash; Bell Pepper; add Garlic and Onion.

2. Wash, trim and chop Basil and Oregano, set aside in separate bowls.

3. Saute Vegetables with Oregano until tender in 2T Olive Oil, season with salt and pepper. Add 1 cup liquid (water, wine or broth) cover and simmer for 10-20 minutes.

4. Prepare Pasta of your choice while the Sauce is cooking.

5. When sauce has cooked down (Veggies will almost "melt") stir well and check for seasoning. Toss with Pasta and Basil, serve with crumbled Asiago cheese. For Meat Lovers you could add Ground Sausage, Pork or Beef, too.
