Our Orders This Week!

Yum, what a terrific $20 Farmer Pick box this week!
|
So this week everything went great except 4G Farms was a little light on their Spinach harvest (they are in-between plantings). As a result our $30 and $40 Farm Boxes got EITHER a bag of Spinach OR a Lettuce. Will was a little off on his math when figuring for the Slicing Tomatoes so some of our Farm Boxes got a mix of Red and Green Tomatoes, hope you enjoy them! We just love a BLT with the addition of a slice of Fried Green Tomato. ; )
Pickup Location Changes
We're sad to announce the loss of two of our Pickup Locations: Wright Dairy in Alexandria Alabama is closing their Farm Store after many, many years. The good news is they will continue producing their amazing Cheese and Butter! We have a special shout out as our wonderful chefs at Canoe Restaurant in Atlanta featured the Wright Dairy Peaceburg Cheddar Cheese at The James Beard Foundation on last weekend, cheers!! The Brookhaven Cook's Warehouse location is also closing and as soon as they have their new digs we'll be back in the neighborhood. In the meantime Wright Dairy folks can still pickup at Garfrerick's Cafe in Oxford AL and Brookhaven-area Members have a few options that are only a few miles away. Check out the Pickup Locations page for all site information.
Weekly Recipe: Ravishing Radishes
Here are a few of our favorite Recipes for tasty, crunchy, fresh Spring Radishes! Many folks only think of them as dried up salad bar Radishes but they are really a very versatile root. You can use Radishes almost any way you would other root vegetables such as Carrots. They are wonderful raw and really special when cooked! Try these one of these variations and let us know what you think!
Sauteed Radishes Wash, trim and slice Radishes in half. Saute with 2T Butter until tender, season with salt and pepper. These a great served as a side dish.
Radish Tea Sandwiches Wash, trim and slice Radishes very thinly. Spread Butter, Cream Cheese or Goat Cheese on bread slices, top with Radishes. Sprinkle with salt and enjoy open face.
Quick Pickled Radishes Wash, trim and cut Radishes in half. Place in a covered container and season with salt, pepper and a little sugar or honey. Add enough Apple Cider Vinegar to cover Radishes (or use other Vinegar of your choice, White Wine or White Balsamic Vinegar are great). Refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight before enjoying on salads or just a tasty snack!
Spring Salad Wash, trim and slice Radishes and Asparagus into bite-sized pieces. Place in a bowl with the juice of one Orange, a few swipes of Orange Zest, salt, pepper and a dash of Sugar or Honey. Refrigerate for an hour. Prepare Salad Greens (Spinach, Lettuce, etc.) top with marinated Radishes and Asparagus and serve.
