Moore Farms
Orders This Week
Our lovely $20 Farmer Pick bx this week: eat your Greens! : )
Every once in awhile everything just lies up in the universe and all goes just as planned for our orders - this was one of those weeks! No weirdness, problems, shortages or other substitutions going on at all, yay! This Saturday is our March Supper Club, we do have a couple/few more seats if anyone wants to join in, email me back ASAP. Looks to be a lovely weekend for a drive to the farm or market at The Carter Center, woo-hoo!

Weekly Recipe: Chocolate Roots Cake
Our recipe this week is a dessert Laurie's mom made with some special ingredients. Inspired by the Chocolate Beet Cake recipe we featured last year for Valentine's Day she decided to try using other root vegetables. The result is a fantastic and satisfying cake that actually has our Mixed Roots in there! You would NEVER know Rutabagas, Sweet Potatoes and Turnips are what make the cake so moist. We hope you try this one, it's really good and healthy, too!

Chocolate Roots Cake
2 cups cooked pureed Root Vegetables (Turnips, Rutabagas, Sweet Potatoes, Beets, etc.)
2 cups All Purpose Flour
1.5 cups Sugar
1/2 cup Cocoa
1.5 teaspoons Baking Soda
3/4 teaspoon Salt
2 large Eggs
3/4 cup warm Coffee (or sub with Water)
1/4 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Whisk dry ingredients until blended. In another bowl mix together wet ingredients, combine with dry ingredients. Bake in greased and floured cake pans at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let this cake cool for 20 minutes in the pan before turning out. Dust with Powdered Sugar before serving.

Spring Investment Incentive
Wild Plum Blossoms
The Plum Tree is always the first to flower on the farm.
Happy Spring! It officially arrives this week and we always celebrate it with great enthusiasm. Each season we offer a special incentive for our Investment Program. This time around we are sending our new and renewing Investment Members a lovely Gift Bag that includes Honey Pecan Granola, Grapefruit Tangelo Marmalade, Handmade Soap and Natural Lip Balm, Apples and a Moore Farms pen and bumper sticker! Enjoy ordering without having to enter your credit card, a sweet extra percentage added on to your spending account and, well, VIP status on your orders (if we're short on something we try to be sure Investment Members get preference!). Click here for details about how our Investment Program works and click here to purchase.
From the Farmers
We are very proud to bring our farm harvests to your family's table and we always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for supporting your local food system!
