Moore Farms
Orders This Crazy Week
Lots of vitamin C in this week's $20 Farmer Pick box!
After a busy weekend at the Georgia Organics Conference and our local Slow Food meeting we spent all day Monday dealing with a computer meltdown! Fortunately all went well with orders and looks like we're going to be fine after all with the Winter Weather threat. We sent two delivery vehicles in to Atlanta on Wednesday to expedite deliveries and make sure everyone got their Good Food! With a new laptop for the bookkeeper and amazing luck on our Quickbooks data backup we're back on track. The internet is what makes it possible for us to operate our Online Market and it's times like these when we realize just how dependent we are on technology in our rural world (sigh).

Weekly Recipe
Purple Sweet Potato Pie!

Our friend and Packing Shed Queen Jackie Carr surprised us this week with her latest creation: this beautiful Purple Sweet Potato Pie definitely gets some attention! The flavor and texture is more delicate than "regular" Sweet Potato Pie.
We think you'll love it!

1. Prepare pie crust (or use a roll-out refrigerator one like we do!).

2. Wash, trim, peel and chop 1 pound of Purple Sweet Potatoes (2-3). Steam or boil until tender.

3. Mash Sweet Potatoes well or puree in food processor.

4. Add 1/2 cup softened Butter, 3/4 cup Sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon Vanilla and 1 teaspoon Cinnamon. Combine all and mix well.

5. Pour into pie shell and bake 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

Note from Jackie: she usually makes two pies at a time and freezes one for later!
