Our Orders This Week

Check out our yummy and nutritious $20 Farmer Pick box!

So we had a replacement this week when the Collard Greens arrived and all but one box were just not up to par and we had to send them back. : ( Fortunately we had enough to fill the Custom/Add-On Item orders but for Farmer Picks we substituted with Cabbage or a second Lettuce (for $40 boxes). The Dinner Packages got Kale instead of Collards. If something happens and we have to make a replacement we always do our best to make it a somewhat "like" item!

We are just loving this weather right now, we can take a few cold nights as long as we still get up int the mid-to-high 50's during the day, yay! Our Pigs got a whole new area to root and graze around in this week and they also really appreciate the sunshine. You can tell a happy Pig because their tail will be curled up and they are covered with a fresh coat of mud from the wallow!

We sent out a special emailing, posted on our Facebook and Twitter AND put a flyer in everyone's box this week but here it is again in case we missed getting the news to you! We are launching our Farmhouse Supper Club, a monthly supper series we have wanted to get going for some time now. Come on out for a drive in the country and recharge your batteries! Feed the Chickens and Goats and enjoy a wonderful local and organic meal with us our historic family Farmhouse. Hope to see you out here soon!

Weekly Recipe

Gluten Free Cornbread

Lately Will has been working on a new Cornbread recipe that does not use Wheat Flour and he has come up with a great one! The Stoneground Cornmeal from Saxon Gristmill is ground on the farm and no other grains are anywhere near it so it's safe for folks with Gluten allergy or intolerance. Even if Gluten is not a problem for you we think you will love this variation!

Farmhouse Cornbread (Gluten Free)
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Mix together in a large bowl:
     >2 cups Stone Ground Cornmeal (if you want "regular" Cornbread use 1 cup Cornmeal and 1 cup All   Purpose Flour)
     >4 tsp Baking Powder
     >1/8 cup Sugar
     >Pinch of salt

In another bowl blend together:
   >1 cup Milk or Buttermilk
   >1/2 cup light Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil (we have been using the Solio Canola Oil and it's great in this recipe!)
   >2 beaten Eggs

Mix wet and dry ingredients, pour into a heated oiled cast iron skillet or buttered baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
