Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week!
Our yummy, pretty $20 Farmer Pick order!
So we had a weird thing this week: instead of the Florida Oranges we ordered we got Florida Tangerines! By the time they arrived Tuesday morning there wasn't anything to do about the delivery error so our Farmer Pick Boxes got Tangerines instead. There were some Oranges that did arrive so we covered as many of the Custom and Add-on Orders as we could: if we ran out for your order we'll replace or credit your next box! **One thing to remember about all of our Fruits: be sure to refrigerate them until ready to enjoy. Since they have already been refrigerated if they are left out at room temperature it will actually speed up the spoilage process! (Also our produce is not treated with anti-fungal chemicals to prolong shelf life as conventionally grown fruits and vegetables are.) Pretty much all of the fresh produce in our boxes should be stored in the fridge when you get it home.

For all of you who have sent us LinkedIn invites over the years we have n
ow added this program to our communication systems! These things are slow-going for us offline lifestyle folks: we don't have cell service on the farm and we are just now getting DSL service (woo-hoo!). Electronic updates on a 100-year-old farm are few and far between but we somehow manage to get there eventually. Just a reminder that we don't get texts and we definitely don't sit in the farm office checking emails all day so if you need to reach us about an order always call us! 256-282-7889

Winter Investment Incentive
Just 10 more days for our seasonal special offer! New and renewing Online Market Investors will enjoy a nice big spending bonus this time: we'll add $20 to your spending credit for the Basic Investment Program, $40 for Supporting level, $100 for Sustaining and $200 for Foundation. That's a SWEET deal! Our Winter Incentive will run through January 31st and can be purchased when the Online Market is closed for other ordering. Happy New Year!

Weekly Recipe
Citrus Beet Salad
Orange Segments
Segmenting an Orange
Perfect pick-me-up for the Winter blahs, this salad has it all: beautiful, delicious and nutritious! Tangerines can certainly be substituted for the Oranges!

Ingredients:
4-5 Beets
1-2 Oranges
3-4 oz. Feta Goat Cheese
1/2 cup Toasted Pecans

Wash, trim and scrub the Beets, you really don't have to peel them since they are Organic! Slice and steam or boil until just tender. Cool in the refrigerator.

Remove rind and segment Oranges (see photo above).

Toast Pecans if you got them from us, they are Raw from Pecan Point Farms.

In a pretty glass dish layer the Beets, Oranges, Feta Cheese and Pecans (or arrange on salad plates). Drizzle with your favorite dressing. Here on the farm we like to mix up Olive Oil, Apple Cider or Balsamic Vinegar, salt, pepper and a dash of Honey. You can serve with Lettuce or Salad Greens also if you like.
