Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week!
Our wonderful $20 Farmer Pick box this week.
Alright, Happy New Year everyone and we are so happy to be back. Will and I had a wonderful holiday break, we were fortunate enough to have a wonderful farmsitter (and Member) Sandy Perry so we ran away to soak up some Florida sun, ahhhhhh! After a verrrrry long year it
What we did on our vacation!
was absolutely fabulous.
So now we're home, a little tanned, rested and definitely ready to get 2015 off to a great start. This week we were equally blessed with an unplanned visit from a former intern and her boyfriend: they were passing through on their way from New York to Colorado (via a warmer route) and could they stop and help out for a few days? Awesome, we spent all day completing severe Winter insulation for Pigs, Goats, Chickens and Ducks! As of this evening it's wind chill of 9 degrees at 8pm and the houses are nice and snug, yay! We're counting their visit as a good omen for 2015, it sure was welcome and appreciated. Thanks a million, Jaimie and Brian!

A note for next week's orders: because of the severe cold weather we'll hold off until Friday to open our Online Market. So far we have some great harvest reports (Brussels Sprouts!) but our farmers want to wait one more day to be sure disaster does not strike.

Winter Investment Incentive
Our seasonal special offer for new and renewing Online Market Investors is a nice big bonus this time: we'll add $20 to your spending credit for the Basic Investment Program, $40 for Supporting level, $100 for Sustaining and $200 for Foundation. That's a SWEET deal! Our Winter Incentive will run through January 31st. Happy New Year!

Pickup Location Changes
So we're still working on tweaking a few more sites but we wanted to let you all know that the Norcross Atlanta Fresh pickup has been switched back to Wednesdays. Hopefully that will help the order numbers for this terrific site!
From the Farmers
We are very proud to bring our farm harvests to your family's table and we always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for supporting your local food system!

Weekly Recipe
Cabbage & Kale
A favorite Greens combo, we made this for our  New Year's Day supper plate with Pintos and home-cured Ham. The sweetness of the Cabbage balances the Kale so nicely!

1. Wash, trim and chop 1/2 pound Kale.
2. Wash, trim and chop 1/2 pound Cabbage.
3. In a saute pan or iron skillet heat 2T Olive Oil, Butter or Solio Local Canola Oil. Add Greens, season with salt and pepper.
4. Saute on medium high heat for 2-3 minutes, cover and turn off heat. Allow Greens to rest for 5-10 minutes until ready to serve.

This is a basic all-around Greens preparation (they don't have to boiled for hours with Pork!). It's simple and fresh tasting, try different seasonings and we especially love using Banner Sea Salt Butter to finish them!
