Moore Farms
Great Orders This Week
Ohmygosh what beautiful $20 boxes we have this week!
Whew, what a topsy-turvy weekend of weather we had! Cold cold nights then a lovely warm Sunday and then pouring down rain before seriously freezing. Mother Nature sure does like to challenge our farmers! Everyone here at Moore Farms came
The Pigs are getting big and were nice and warm in their house.
through the bitter chill just fine, the Farmyard was battened down and thank goodness we did not have wind with the freezing temps. With the Thanksgiving countdown we were glad to offer some terrific Dinner Packages and Fruit Boxes this week. One trick we have for holiday time is to make a couple of totally different meals ahead of time to freeze so that after the Turkey rush we can enjoy some non-Thanksgiving suppers! We included printed out Recipes in the Dinner Packages so we wouldn't miss emailing anyone!

Lull in Egg Production
So we wanted to be sure you all knew that our Egg farms are all seeing a drastic dip in production after the recent weather chill. It's looking better for next week as we have added a new local producer to the mix.
**Because of the seasonal shortage we ask everyone to please be sweet and limit your order to two dozen. THANK YOU!**

Holiday Schedule and Pickup Location Heads-up!
Just a quick FYI about Holiday Delivery Schedules: for the week of Thanksgiving we are planning to make all deliveries on Wednesday the 26th. Some Pickup Locations may not have a delivery depending on their schedule. This year we will be off entirely for the two weeks of December 22nd and 29th because the holidays fall smack in the middle of the week.

Site Changes: we are looking at making some changes to our Pickup Locations after the first of the year. Unfortunately the two Clifton School Locations have been well below the 10 orders per week we need to cover our delivery costs. Hopefully folks will catch on! When we started these sites we expected 20 orders per week for each school (we were up to 11 for Clifton and 6 for Clairmont this week). Georgia Tech Campus: We are getting requests again for a campus pickup, if you know of any opportunities to host us let us know! GA Tech was one of our most popular sites before we had to drop it due to construction and the loss of our site coordinator. If you have any other site requests for the Metro Atlanta area let us know about those, too. We'll be re-routing after the first of the year!
From the Farmers
We are very proud to bring our farm harvests to your family's table and we always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for supporting your local food system!

Weekly Recipe
Beef Vegetable Soup
Featured in our Beef Soup & Salad Box this week, this is a soul-satisfying bowl of goodness.

1. Thaw 1.2 pound package Beef Oxtail, season with salt and pepper. Sear on all sides in a Soup Pot with 2T Olive Oil.

2. Prepare Mixed Roots: Wash, trim and chop into bite-sized chunks, add to Beef and stir, cook until just browned.

3. Wash, trim and finely chop/mince Fresh Herbs and Garlic to taste. Add to Soup Pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Add 4-6 cups of liquid (beer, wine, water, broth, etc.) to Soup Pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes (the soup just gets better the longer it cooks or heated the next day!). Remove Beef Oxtail and shred/chop into bite-sized pieces. Return to Soup.

5. Wash, trim and roughly chop Baby Mixed Greens. Add to soup 5-10 minutes before serving.
