Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week!
Our $20 Farmer Pick box this week
All of our farmers are just loving this cool wet weather and the crops are, too! We know it won't last but it's been a great!

So the rain did hamper a couple of our harvests. Cherry Tomatoes just do not react well to large amounts of water and our farms who grow them had a lot of loss this week due to splitting. Since we had far less than we expected we replaced some of them in the Farmer Pick orders with a Peach - Nectarine Mix. Folks who ordered the Cherry Tomatoes as a Custom Choice or Add-On item still got them! Likewise we had fewer Cucumbers than we planned on so $30 and $40 Farmer Picks got Bell Pepper Mix instead. Otherwise all else is going strong and the good news is the cooler temps have our Chickens happier and their Egg production is back up again. Heat and cold both adversely affect the girls attitude so when it gets over 90 they take a break just as they do in the Winter!

Summer Investment Incentive
We're not sure where else you can get a solid 3% - 7% return on your investment dollars these days but you can with us! Our Summer Online Market Investment Incentive sweetens the deal with a food donation made to the Atlanta Community Food Bank in your name. Click here for the details and thanks for considering investing in your local food system! Next week will be the end of the Summer Incentive (we'll close out the offer on Tuesday July 29th at 10am) so if you are interested check it out. So far we have a $300 food donation that will be made to the food bank on behalf of our Online Market Investors!

All Supermarkets Should Do This
We just had to share this video link sent to us by Member Sandy Perry. We were not aware of the European Union's efforts to
reduce food waste but what a terrific campaign! We wish all of our schools would do this, kids waste so much food every day in the lunchroom. Of course Members of our Online Market do often see such "undesirable" produce specimens and farmers themselves eat these foods on a regular basis. Will says he can't remember the last time we ate an unblemished tomato! It is fascinating to think about how our modern supermarkets have changed human being's perceptions about what our food should look like. We hope we have helped to remind our Members about what Real Food tastes like!
From the Farmers
We are very proud to bring our farm harvests to your family's table and we always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for supporting your local food system!

Weekly Recipe
Beef Oxtail Dinner Package
This was so popular last week we're running it again! Our recipes make Braised Beef Tacos with Fresh Salsa and our Three Sisters Salad.

To prepare Oxtail:
Thaw Beef, season with salt and pepper, sear on both sides in a heavy skillet with 4T Olive Oil. Add 1 cup liquid (1/2 broth, beer or wine and 1/2 water). Cover and cook in 250 degree oven for at least 2 hours, 3-4 hours is better. Alternatively cook in a crock pot on low overnight or during the day for supper. Cool meat and remove bones and any large pieces of fat, etc., chop/shred meat and season with 1/2 teaspoon each cumin, chili powder, salt and pepper to taste.

Three Sisters Salad
Wash, trim and chop Baby Squash, Snap Beans and cut the kernels off of the Sweet Corn. Heat 2T Olive oil in a skillet, saute vegetables lightly until tender-crisp, 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and drizzle with Olive Oil, Vinegar of your choice, salt and pepper. Serve warm, room temperature or chilled.

To prepare Salsa and serve the Tacos:
Wash, trim and chop Tomatoes, Peppers and Onion. Mix together with salt and pepper, 1T Lime juice or vinegar and a pinch of sugar. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Heat a skillet on medium, warm tortillas on each side, place in a covered dish (we use a pie plate with a dinner plate on top, works great!). Serve the Beef, tortillas, salad and salsa with shredded cheese and sour cream or plain yogurt if you like so everyone can make their own tacos!
