Our Terrific Orders This Week!
Our delicious and nutritious $20 Farmers Pick
It feels like we were hurled full-on into Spring this week with the wild weather, doesn't it? There is just nothing like waking up at 3am with three quaking dogs in the bed! The predictions for next week are simply beautiful with highs in the 70's, yay!

Everything went really well with our farm harvests with the exception of the highly anticipated Sugar Snap Peas. At the last minute the decision was made by the farmer that they were not ready yet (the sugars form at a certain time in their growth). We're glad we didn't get a whole bunch of Peas that weren't sweet yet but it meant we had to round up some replacements. Fortunately, Rise and Shine Farm contacted us with a larger than expected Carrot crop so we were able to fill in for the Peas with Carrots! Hopefully next week will be a little less weird and all will go as planned (fingers crossed).

"Telegram Sam" is a handsome fellow!
Many thanks to our Members who took advantage of our Early Bird Offer this month! Ordering early helps us to make more accurate harvest predictions for our farmers. This week's Early Bird profile is one of our friend Jackie Carr's chicken-house rescue birds, "Telegram Sam". Jackie takes in the birds that get left behind when our local CAFO operations clear out their houses. Handsome Sam is seven months elderly now, a tremendous life span considering the rest of the chickens in his flock were harvested at 49 days.

Weekly Recipe
Our Recipe this Week is for our
Pasta Dinner Package
A great way to enjoy a local meal! Package includes: Storico Fresco Pappardelle; Tuscan Kale; Grape Tomatoes; Mixed Herbs and Raw Aged Fontina Cheese. This will serve four or plan on leftovers for lunch the next day. Yum!

1. Wash, trim and chop Tuscan Kale, set aside.

2. Wash and slice about 10 Grape Tomatoes in half, set aside.

3. Wash and trim Fresh Herbs (we sent Oregano) chop finely. You will need 1-2 Tablespoons for the recipe.

4. In a large skillet heat 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil on medium, add Kale and Tomatoes. Season with salt, pepper and Oregano. Saute for 5-10 minutes or until Kale softens and Tomatoes start to "melt".

5. While Kale is cooking bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook Pappardelle. Pasta will float when cooked but it is best to taste to be sure it is done (it's the cook's responsibility!).

6. Combine cooked Pasta and Kale, add another Tablespoon Olive Oil. Allow to rest for a few minutes to let flavors meld.

7. Crumble Aged Fontina over Pasta in a serving platter or individual serving bowls.
Charred Chard Salad

Not a huge fan of Swiss Chard? Here's our own tasty Farmhouse idea for another way to prepare this nutritious Green!

Char your Chard
Swiss Chard is a Member of the Beta family, it's related to Beets. It has an earthy flavor that is enhanced by different seasonings. We like this salad, it can be made ahead and enjoyed in your lunch box!

Wash, trim and toss whole Swiss Chard leaves in a large  bowl with just enough Olive Oil to coat, salt and pepper. Grill for a few minutes on each side until you get grill marks but Chard is still fairly firm. Place back in the large bowl, cover and refrigerate. Chop the chilled Charred Chard and add Grape Tomatoes sliced in half with vinegar and oil (or other oil-based salad dressing of your choice). This simple salad is great served at room temperature.
Pickup Location Changes
As the seasons change we also take a look at our Pickup Locations to make necessary changes on our delivery route. We have some new sites waiting to be added to the program so we have to make some room for them!

Click here for all of our Pickup Location details.

Marietta Harry's - Unfortunately we have had to make the decision to remove Harry's from our delivery route. We have had consistently very low orders for this site and it has been struggling for a long time. We have a terrific alternative just about 1 mile away at The Local Exchange on Marietta Square.

Cox Enterprises - Pickup time will be changed to 2:00pm starting next week.

Trinity Presbyterian Church - Our first Pickup Location (since 2008!) boxes will be placed inside for the warmer months. Go to the door beside the Coke machine (the irony!) to the right of the Moore's Mill Road Reception entrance.

East Atlanta Village ABS - Sorry to say that ABS will be closing at the end of May. We'll be scouting for a new EAV site but if anyone has any ideas please let us know!
