Moore Farms
Our Lovely Orders This Week
Such a pretty array of produce in this week's $20 Farmer Pick box!
Another great week as we celebrate our own Earth Day holiday! Everything is bursting out on the farms and harvest forecasts get better each week. Enjoy our Good Food!

Three Ideas for Farm Box Ingredients
1) Wash, trim and chop Pac Choi. Stir fry with 1T Peanut or Vegetable Oil and sliced Onion. Season with Garlic, Ginger, Soy Sauce, serve with rice or noodles.
2) Wash and slice Grape Tomatoes in half. Toss with just enough Olive Oil to coat, season with salt and pepper. Roast in a hot oven until tender and starting to brown. Toss with Pasta, top a salad or spread on crackers.
3) Wash, trim and chop Kale very finely. Dress with your favorite salad dressing and toss in a handful of sesame seeds. Makes a great salad!

Early Bird Special
Six of our Peking Ducks are our Early Birds this week!
Thanks to everyone for ordering early this month: we'll have our Early Bird $1 Off special through the end of April. Order by midnight Friday and get a buck off of your order!

Pickup Location Changes
As the seasons change we have to take a look at some of our Pickup Locations to make necessary changes on our delivery route. We have some new sites waiting to be added to the route so we have to make some room for them! Click here for all of our Pickup Location details.

Marietta Harry's Pickup Location - Unfortunately we have had to make the decision to remove Harry's from our delivery route. We have had consistently very low orders for this site and it has been struggling for a long time. We have a terrific alternative just about 1 mile away at The Local Exchange on Marietta Square.

Cox Enterprises - Pickup time will be changed to 2:00pm starting next week.

Trinity Presbyterian Church - Our first Pickup Location (since 2008!) boxes will be placed inside for the warmer months. Go to the door beside the Coke machine (the irony!) to the right of the Moore's Mill Road Reception entrance.

East Atlanta Village ABS - Sorry to say that ABS will be closing at the end of May. We'll be scouting for a new EAV site but if anyone has any ideas please let us know!

Spring Farm Pictures
Everyone gets a little frisky at this time of year and the farm is bursting out all over!
The youngest of our three farm dogs, Rosco takes a break in the shady buttercups.
Our very own Crimson Tide! We have been saving our Crimson Clover cover crop seeds for three seasons now.
From the Farmers
We are very proud to bring our farm harvests to your family's table and we always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for supporting your local food system!

Weekly Recipe
Strawberry Orange Jam
This is the Jam we made for our Spring Investment Incentive. The recipe was adapted from one given to us by Member Rebecca Rakoski and we love it.
It's really easy and you don't have to can the jars, you can refrigerate or freeze if you prefer.

Makes about 5 half-pints

~ 2-1/2 cups fresh crushed Strawberries
~ 1 pkg powdered fruit pectin
  ~ 1 T grated orange peel
~ 1/2 cup fresh orange juice (1-1/2 oranges)
  ~ 3 cups sugar

In 3-quart saucepan mix strawberries, pectin, orange peel and orange juice until pectin is dissolved. Heat to rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly.

Stir in sugar. Heat to rolling boil, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Quickly skim off any foam. Immediately pour into hot, sterilized jars or freezer containers, leaving 1/2-inch headspace. Wipe rims of jars and seal immediately.

Refrigerate up to 1 week, freeze for up to 3 months or preserve by processing in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.

Moore Farm Pics
Grandma Mary Moore's Double Spirea bush has just burst into bloom! Part of our farm restoration, we almost lost this plant! It was so overgrown we just happened to find one little branch blooming one Spring several years ago. It is now a big beautiful shrub again.
The Potatoes are up! These are the Purple Potatoes and the whole plant is that color, even the leaves.
The old fashioned farm Irises blooming away with Creeping Phlox in front, so pretty!
