Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week
Our nutritious and delicious $20 Farmer Pick order this week.
The old saying "when it rains it pours" so often seems to be true in our world! We're all still dealing with Mother Nature's fickle Spring rollout, fortunately the farms have not had any troubles with crop damage, just mostly the challenge of too-wet soils. We also had a few communication errors this week with the farm orders as we received Cherry Tomatoes instead of the expected Grape Tomatoes. They are still tasty and terrific, leave them out on the kitchen counter at room temperature to fully ripen before enjoying. Along the same lines we received more Lettuce than expected but less Kale and Collards. Subsequently some of our Farmer Picks got a substitution, thankfully this doesn't happen too often! To round out the adventures this week, Will's mom suffered a very bad fall resulting in a dislocated ankle and a compound fracture. A long night of emergency surgery put everything back together but it will be a few months of healing for her before she is back on her feet again. (Virginia makes the lovely Potholders we have on our Online Market and for sale at the Freedom Farmers Market. Many of our Member have met her over the years at market or for farm events.) Cheers for your healing thoughts and prayers, can't have enough of those!

Baby Goat Name Voting
Mama Goat Frida's little guy needs a name!
A lot of folks have been patiently waiting for the Baby Goat Name Vote to open up and this week it started. We have a bunch of great name suggestions sent in to us by Members and Friends so be sure to cast your vote when you place your order. We'll have the voting open through next week but if you're not ordering you can always email us with your choice from the list of Nominations. So far Alejandro is in the lead with Buster a close second and Harley is rounding out third place. We'll tabulate everyone's votes and announce the little fellow's new name in next week's Newsletter! Please note: the nominations are now closed so be sure to pick from the list of choices

Weekly Recipe
Winterspring Soup
A lot of our Farmhouse recipes cross over from one season to the next. This week's Soup & Salad Box features the our Winterspring Soup with a yummy  Salad. Here is the Soup recipe for everyone to enjoy!

1. Wash, trim and chop one head of Cabbage, you should have 4-6 cups. Place in a large soup pot and add 4-6 cups Chicken Broth or water to cover. Season with salt and pepper, simmer for 30 minutes or until tender.

2. Puree
Cabbage with immersion blender or in a food processor.

3. Wash, trim and chop ½ pound Kale and 2-3 Sweet Potatoes, add these to the soup. Cook for another 20-30 minutes or until Sweet Potatoes are tender.

4. Check again for seasoning and finish with ½ cup milk or cream and 2 Tablespoons Butter or Olive Oil.

If you like you can also puree the final soup, it just depends on whether you like a chunky or smooth soup texture!
