Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week
Our wonderful selection for the $20 Farmers Pick this week.
OK we had a great weekend in Mobile, Alabama where we participated in the Southern SAWG Conference. We represented our Online Market program in the new "Food Hub" sessions and met other folks in the South East who have similar cooperative marketing organizations. It wasn't really any warmer down there (darn!) than it was at home and we had to cut our trip short by a day as we're still kind of puny from the Holiday Crud we shared! But we made the most of our time and got to connect with many farmer friends who we don't see often enough.

Happy to say that all went well with the Online Market orders this week. There were no problems at all except we were short about two orders of Spinach so, luck of the draw, a couple of our Farmer's Pick orders got a replacement. (If we ever have a shortage of something we always fill the Custom Choice orders first and replace Farmer's Picks with a similar item.)

All of our farms have been rolling with Mother Nature's freezing cold punches. Here at Moore Farms in the Kale section we planted for Spring harvest they all pretty much got knocked out except for the strain Laurie has been saving for a few years, yay! Spinach and Carrots still looking good though set back for harvest dates a bit. It's a challenge for us but we keep thinking about the knock-outs being delivered to various insect populations, hooray!
The Packing Crew showed up with a great array of hats for the cold weather this week! That's Jackie, Laurie and Kathy (left to right).

Weekly Recipe
Our Recipes this week are for our Veggie Soup & Salad Box:
Spicy Asian Veggie Soup  & Citrus Spinach Salad
Will made this for our Farm Lunch this week and it was sooooo good! Hot and spicy it warms you through and through.

Wash, trim and chop into bite-sized pieces the Mixed Roots, Shiitake Mushrooms and half of the Cabbage. Be sure to remove the Shiitake stems as they are fibrous. Sautee veggies with 2T Oil in a soup pot for 5-10 minutes just until they start to get tender. Add 6 cups Chicken or Vegetable Broth or water (or a mix). Crush the fleshy end of the Lemongrass and put the whole stick in the pot. Season with salt, pepper, soy sauce, ground or fresh Ginger and Garlic and Red Pepper flakes to your taste. Simmer for 20 minutes, remove Lemongrass. Taste and adjust for seasoning if necessary.

Drain and chop Tofu into cubes, add to soup with washed and chopped Parsley. Serve with rice and salad prepared with Spinach, Orange segments and thinly sliced Radishes.
