Our Orders This Week
Gorgeous goodies in our $20 Farmer Pick box this week!
So another great week as we get 2014 revved up and running. We had one missing item for our boxes, those of you who had ordered Broccoli this week as an extra or Custom Choice item it did not arrive as planned. We emailed everyone to be sure ya'll knew what happened and we will replace it in your next order automatically (or credit if it's not available). Otherwise all went very well as our farms continue Spring planting plans.

Moore Farms Goat Updates
Santiago "photo bombing" again in the Farmyard!
If all goes as expected we'll have our two Mama Goats delivering their Spring kids around the first of March, yay! Hopefully we'll have two sets of twins this year. Also we have had another addition to the herd. About a month ago we brought home a cute little black and white dwarf mix from the East Alabama Goat and Poultry Auction. We have not been able to introduce her to our Members yet as she is terribly camera shy! It doesn't help that Santiago tries to get into every picture I take in the Farmyard. Oh well, here is our Spring kid Santiago, a beautiful growing buckling, and we'll try to get Baby Blue Eyes in a Newsletter soon!
New Farmers' Market!

We are so excited and proud to announce our new weekly Farmers' Market! We have been working for the past several months with The Carter Center, Woodland Gardens and Riverview Farms to form the Freedom Farmers' Market at The Carter Center.

Starting Saturday March 1st we will be there from 9am - 1pm with a variety of products from Moore Farms and Friends. It's such a great opportunity for us to meet our Members so ya'll better come out to see us! Check out  the website for more info and be sure to sign up for new announcements: freedomfarmersmkt.com

Weekly Recipe
Meatballs with Pasta and
Swiss Chard
This one is for our Dinner Package it was very popular, enjoy!

Prepare the Meatballs
In a bowl mix together:
~ 1 pound Ground Pork
~ 1 cup Bread Crumbs
~ 1 beaten Egg
~ salt, pepper, garlic, pepper flakes to taste
~ 1T Olive Oil
~ 1T Milk or Cream

We make our own breadcrumbs in the food processor, they are so much better than store-bought. Biscuits also work well for Meatballs. Don't mix ingredients too much, just enough so they bind together. Form 1" - 1.5" balls, we like them on the small side. Allow to rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Heat 2T Olive Oil in oven-proof skillet. Brown Meatballs on all sides over medium heat. Finish cooking in a 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes. Test one Meatball (it's the solemn responsibility of the cook!) to be sure the meat is done all the way through. They should not be overcooked as they can get dried out.

While Meatballs are cooking, prepare Pasta of your choice according to package directions.

Prepare Swiss Chard:
Wash, trim and chop leaves and stems. Saute stems first in 2T Olive Oil, salt and pepper until tender. Add chopped leaves, saute until just wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Season with Italian Herbs, Garlic, Pepper Flakes to your taste.

To finish Pasta: Add 2-3T Olive Oil, toss Swiss Chard together with Meatballs and Pasta and serve with grated cheese.
