Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week
Our lovely $20 Farmers Pick order this week.
It's pouring down rain again as I finish this week's Newsletter! We did manage to get our planting field mowed and tilled this week so we do feel like we had a little triumph over Mother Nature. She has been throwing up weather roadblocks at every turn so far this year! Hoping for a really good Fall crop after all.

The Basil Mix for this week's orders is Thai Basil and Lime Basil, both types can be hard to find and have very delicate and distinct flavors. We like them with any Asian flavored dish and they are terrific with Fish or Chicken.

There were a couple of last-minute changes for our order this week. The Pink Eyed Peas just were not good when we got them in so we had to replace them in Farmer Pick orders. Folks who had a $40 Farmer Pick will find Blueberries instead of the Peas. If yours was a Custom Choice Order or if you had added the Peas on to another Farmer Pick we have noted your account and will replace them or credit your next order. So sorry to disappoint but we didn't want to send out something that was not good! Also the Sweet Corn for Farmer Picks was changed: we had originally planned for 6 ears because the farms reported them as small. When they actually picked and delivered though they were very LARGE! So we included our regular 4-ear order (especially since we couldn't have fit 6 of the big ears in the boxes!). Check out the yummy Grilled Sweet Corn with Basil Butter recipe this week, we think you'll love it!

Weekly Recipe
Our Recipe of the Week is for
Grilled Sweet Corn with
Basil Butter

Our favorite way to enjoy Corn on the Cob is Grilled. When it is also gilded with a fresh Basil Butter you just can't go wrong!

1. Prepare Sweet Corn for the grill: soak whole ears in water for 20 minutes. Drain and grill over medium high heat for 10-15 minutes. (Soaking helps the corn to steam from the inside out and keeps the kernels from drying out).

2. Shuck Corn and place back on grill to brown up a bit.

3. Prepare Basil Butter: wash trim and chop Basil (we like the Thai Basil and Lime Basil Mix from this week's Farmer Picks but you can use any type of Basil or other fresh Herbs). Mix Basil* with 1/4 cup softened Butter, stir well to combine.

4. Apply/slather Basil Butter on to Grilled Sweet Corn and enjoy!

*The amount of fresh Herbs is up to you: we use a handful of Basil leaves for this recipe. No need to chill the prepared Butter if you are using it right away and Basil Butter will keep in the fridge for a week or so - if it lasts that long!
