Moore Farms
Our Orders This Week
Our tasty $20 Farmers Pick for this week.
All went really well for our orders this week, we had fewer Snow Peas for Farmers Picks than we expected so some folks got the very similar Sugar Snap Peas (both have edible pods, just snap off the stem wash and munch!).

A big welcome to our newest Pickup Location hosted by CBeyond for their Corporate Employees! How handy is that: pick up your box of Good Farm Food on your way home without making another stop. Ask us about getting your workplace set up as a Pickup Location.

Just a lovely time on the farm as another 2+ inches of rain fell for most of our growers in our area. Geez, I know we should be glad but our boots have a permanent mud crust going on! The sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday so far have made up for a lot of the weekend's wet.
Baby Goat getting up from a nap, babies need lots of sleep!
'Course our new Baby Goat brought a ray of sunshine! He was born on Friday and is bouncing around the Farm Yard like a little dude. SO we don't have a name for him yet. We're going to take our Member's suggestions and we'll vote for his new name on Farm Day! Send us an email and tell us what you think we should name him. Here are some details about the little guy to help inspire you:
  • He was born on Friday May 3rd.His Mother is Frida and his Father is Diego (yes, after the artists!).
  • He has chocolate brown markings on his face and legs.
  • He is very independent: lots of the time his mother calls for him to come to her and he just keeps on sleeping!
  • He wags his tail a lot.
  • He likes people and he gets lots of snuggles.

Follow all of our Farm Critters on our Facebook page (please Like us, too and tell everyone what ya think about our Online Market!).

Weekly Recipe
This week we have the recipe for our Big Salad Box. We love "Big Salads" on the farm especially for lunch! Lots of yummy crunchy fresh veggies and usually cheese or meat to make it a meal. The Cornbread Croutons are a favorite.

Big Salad with Yogurt Ranch and Cornbread Croutons

Prepare the Cornbread:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix together 1 cup Cornmeal, 1 cup All-Purpose Flour, 4t Baking Powder, 1/8 cup Sugar, pinch of salt. In another bowl blend together 1 cup Milk (or Buttermilk) 1/2 cup light Olive Oil  or Vegetable Oil and two Eggs. Mix wet and dry ingredients, pour into a heated oiled cast iron skillet or buttered baking dish, bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

To make Croutons: Allow Cornbread to cool, chop into bite-sized chunks and toast on a baking sheet until crunchy and browned. You can make these ahead of time too and use throughout the week, store in the refrigerator.

Prepare Boiled Eggs: place room temperature Eggs in a saucepan and cover with cool water, bring to a boil over medium high heat. Cover, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 3-5 minutes. Drain and run cool water over eggs, allow to rest for 5 minutes before peeling and slicing.

To assemble Big Salad: Wash, trim and chop vegetables. We included Lettuce, Carrots, Green Onions, Radishes. Grate or chunk Red Hill Cheddar. Arrange veggies, eggs and cheese on serving plates, top with Cornbread Croutons and drizzle with Atlanta Fresh Yogurt Ranch Dressing. Yum!
