Moore Farms
Orders This Week
This week our Baby Mixed Greens include three kinds of Kale, Turnips, three kinds of Mustards, Komatsuna and Collards.

OK, other than one little glitch this week

(Will counted an extra box of Sweet  Peppers that was not actually there!) everything went really well with harvests and orders. Oh, how we love the rare "glitchless" weeks! We ended up replacing the phantom Sweet Peppers for about two dozen $20 Farmers Pick orders with a 1/2 pound Baby Mixed Greens so we hope you're happy with that! Since Tomatoes are just about done we had a smaller one pound order for Farmers Picks and a nice, big bag of Apples to balance out the boxes. Thanks so much to everyone who ordered early again this week, we'll offer the Early Bird incentive through the end of October so next week save a buck and order by midnight Friday. Speaking of incentives we just have one more week of our Investment Membership special, check out the details below for a sweet deal when you step up your Membership level of support!

Come on out to the farm this Saturday for our Farm Work Day! (See below for details) We'll have a great time and get a few big jobs done with many hands working together to lighten the load. The weather is going to be great so if you haven't been out to Moore Farms yet this is a cool opportunity to get your hands a little dirty and get a firsthand experience doing what we do! ; )

Don't forget to make your Turkey Reservation

*PICKUP LOCATION ALERTS*

We have two Atlanta sites that have been low on orders for a bit now. . .

Weekly Recipe
Big Fall Salad

This week's Farmer's Pick order just calls out for a Big Salad: we'll share one of our favorite combos featuring Roasted Butternut Squash and Apples with Chipotle Lime Dressing from Atlanta Fresh! The peel of the Butternut Squash does not need to be removed: when it is roasted the peel gets a wonderful nutty flavor and adds a nice texture.

1. Wash, trim and carefully cut Butternut Squash in half. A good way to safely do this is on top of a towel or slice off an edge so it will lay flat. Scoop out the seeds (reserve if you like roasted Pumpkin Seeds these can be enjoyed the same way!). Place cut-side down on a lined baking sheet and roast in a 400 degree oven for 20-30 minutes or until the skin is browned and wrinkly. Remove Squash from oven and set aside, allow to cool.

2. Wash, trim and prepare Salad Greens. A mix of Lettuce and our Baby Mixed Greens is fantastic.

3. Wash, trim, remove the core and cut 2-3 Apples into chunks or slices depending on your preference.

4. Toast Pecans in the oven for 5-10 minutes on 350 degrees.

Arrange Salad Greens on a serving platter. Chop Roasted Butternut Squash (peel and all: it is terrific!) and arrange on top of Greens. Add Apples and Pecans, drizzle with Atlanta Fresh Chipotle Lime Dressing (it's spicy-sweet flavor is perfect for this salad combo). You can always add any other fresh or roasted vegetables, Peppers and Radishes would be great, too!

The Moore Farms Gang
The Whole Gang
A rare day when almost everyone was here at the same time! Introducing the Moore Farms Gang: (back row) long-term WWOOFer Justin; WWOOFer Keiko; Packing Crew Leader Jackie; Delivery Fellow Travis; Local Farm Helper Stephanie and her two boys Zach and Jared; (front row) Packing Gal/Farm Helper Kathy holding Rosco; Will hugging Sweet Pea and Laurie sitting next to Buddy (facing backwards!). (Not pictured Laurie's mom Linda who helps in the office and Will's mom Virginia who comes for lunch each week!)

It's a small little teeny tiny world. . . Member Carolyn Kulb recognized our WWOOF intern Keiko: they were in the Peace Corps together in Mali West Africa!

We are very proud to bring our farmer's foods to your family and we  always want to know what you think about what we do. Send us your recipes, pictures and stories and thank you for your support!
