Convention 2015 - Breaking News!

We have great news...the advance registration period has been extended to October 2!

That's right-it's not too late to register for the 2014 Girl Scout Convention-and girls can still register for the Girl Scout Leadership Institute (GSLI)! So please spread the word, there is still time to get in on the fun and invite friends and family members to join in too. And don't forget the great learning opportunities that begin before the full kick off of convention, including Girl Scout History Conference 2014 and Girl Scout University (GSU).

Minute-to-Win-it Camporall - for Older Girl Scouts and their Leaders

Friday, October 3  - Sunday, October 5, 2014

Calling all Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors for a fun-filled weekend of camping, singing around the campfire, making new friends, and a few surprises at Washoe Lake State Park. The event is open to all girls who are in 6th grade or above. Girls will use their Girl Scouting skills to complete fun tasks in Minute It to Win It game-style activities. The event is hosted by the local chapter of the Green Hat Society and the Pah Rah Service Unit.

Calling all Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. The United Nations has declared October 11 the International Day of the Girl! In celebration, we'll be screening the documentary Raising Ms. President, which explores the current state of female political leadership, and where the passion for politics begins. Join the party and prepare to be inspired!

First Aid/CPR/AED Training

Saturday, October 25, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Adults and older girls, starting with Cadettes...are you in need of certification (or re-certification) in First Aid, CPR, and Automated External Defribrillator (AED)? GSSN has our own qualified trainers to be able to offer you the Level 1 requirements needed for many activities outside of the troop's regular meeting place. 


When: Saturday, October 25, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Where: GSSN Service Center

Cost: $40

Happy 150th Birthday, Nevada!
Saturday, November 1 - Carson City

The theme of this year's Nevada Day Parade: 

Happy 150th Birthday Nevada!

 

The parade will be held in Carson City on Saturday, November 1. The Dayton Service Unit has graciously volunteered to coordinate the participation of Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada in the parade, and invites all girls in the council to walk with them!

 

Please contact Kadee Mason, Service Unit Manager at [email protected] for more details and to RSVP. Space is limited so please let us know you are coming (please, no drop-ins). 

 

Please provide enough adults to supervise your own girls while at the parade. We can have up to four floats and these need to be coordinated with Kadee before September 19, 2014.

2015 Travel destinations
Applications due Saturday, November 1, 2014

Girl Scout destinations are nationally sponsored trips exclusively designed for Girl Scouts, where girls apply individually for the trip they are interested in. Trip categories include: International, outdoors, science, people, and getaways.

 

Trips are facilitated by GSUSA, and hosted by individual Girl Scout councils, GSUSA, and contracted organizations, such as Outward Bound. Girl Scout destinations, events, and trips open girls up to new worlds, ideas, and experiences.

Girl Scout Night at Mackay Stadium 

Saturday, October 11, 7:30 p.m.

It's football season! Are you ready to show your Wolf Pack and Girl Scout pride? Join your fellow Girl Scouts at the Nevada vs. Colorado State game on Saturday, October 11. There are lots of fun activities planned for the day; you can join the team for the Wolf Pack Walk, enjoy a special space to tailgate next to the stadium, and even spend the night on the field! Check out the Girl Scout Night flyer for information on how to register.

 

Please note that all Girl Scouts need to be accompanied by their guardian or troop leaders. Don't forget to wear your uniform!
